Sox Force Pirates to Split Me Buried Treasure in Epic Tie!

The Burlington White Sox and Hamilton Pirates somehow played to a 13-13 tie on Tuesday night at Millcorft Park.

The big story. Hamilton blew a colossal, (seemingly un-blowable 9-run lead), leaving fans wondering if the entire Pirates roster should be court-martialed for mutiny (and slow play)! It was a game so violently chaotic that both coaching staffs looked like they needed a stiff glass of rum by mid game.

Everything started beautifully for the Jolly Roger crew. The Pirates came out patient but also like a pack of bloodthirsty buccaneers, pillaging Sox pitcher Dante Federico for a massive 8-run cushion in the top of the 1st.

For a brief moment, it looked like they would easily sail off into the sunset with a hold full of stolen plunder. Then, the bullpen doors opened, and the great shipwreck of 2026 officially commenced! The scurvy starter for the Pirates gave up 1 in the 1st, 2 in the 2nd, 4 in the 3rd and then 5 in the 4th to let the Sox not only come all the way back but also taking the lead 12-11 (after 4).

Hamilton served up grog on a silver tankard, letting the Sox march right back into the game! That majestic 9-run lead didn't just evaporate; it struck an iceberg, split in half, and sank straight to Davy Jones' locker!

After trading punches like drunken sailors in a tavern brawl, both teams ran completely out of energy (and dignity) settling for a deeply embarrassing 13-13 tie.



Important game details for the pitchers as follows:

- Dante Federico, (who couldn't find the strike zone with a compass and a map) led things off on the hill for the Burlington White Sox. The rookie pitcher (rumored to have not thrown a pitch since the age of 14), allowed 1 hit and 5 runs over 1/3 of an inning, striking out 1 and walking 4. The game for Dante was a collective walk the plank. The scallywag, who seemingly forgot which way the wind blows, tried to navigate a reef without a rudder, tossing pitches into the briny deep instead of the strike zone.

- Veteran Doug Chrysler tried to mop up the 1st inning but ended up scuttling his own vessel. The righty gave up 4 hits and 3 earned runs over 2/3 of an inning. Striking out 1 and walking none.

- Jordan Stamp played the long "John" relief role. The lefty pitched 6 innings in relief for Burlington. The reliever surrendered 5 hits and 5 runs (3 earned) while, striking out 11 and walking 4.

- Pirates starter Sean Hall had a day that would shiver most timbers. The righty gave up 14 hits and 12 runs (9 earned) over 4 innings, striking out 5 and walking 1.

- Rookie Owen Arsenault saved the day in relief for the Pirates tie. The hurler threw 2 and 2/3 of 1 run baseball (0 earned) on just 2 hits. Striking out 3 and walking none.

- The Burlington White Sox collected 16 hits in the game.

- Cossitt Jr and Alex Gaudet were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in 3 runs for Burlington.

- Uncle Reco, ODC, and Brett Graham each collected multiple hits for the Sox.

- Jordan Stamp helped his own cause with a line drive to the moon in the 4th.

- The Hamilton Pirates collected 10 hits in the game.

- Bourgeois Jr set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading Hamilton with 2 hits in 4 at bats. The center fielder also swiped 3 bags, had 3 RBIs, 2 runs and went nuclear in the 4th inning. Worth noting that the bat flip may have gone more vertical then the ball!

- Hamilton had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating 8 walks for the game.
