Pedro's Secrets to Success: Allow 12 hits, Pitch a CG Win!

Most pitchers who give up 12 hits in a single game are usually found sitting in the dugout by the 4th inning, staring blankly at the wall, contemplating life. On Sunday night, Pedro decided he liked the view from the mound too much to leave, dragging his battered, bruised, and handsome self through 7 full innings to secure the grittiest complete-game Sox victory you will see all season.

Quote from Pedro to the manager during the game.......twice: "Don't come over here. Get f**ked! I ain't coming out!"

Quote from Pedro to the manager after the game: "Look, Skip, I know I told you to f**k off twice out there, but I only did it because our fielders needed the cardio. If I actually used my good fastball tonight (instead of giving up 12 hits), those guys would've just been standing around instead of getting the recommended 10,000 steps in."

Ultimately Dylan "Pedro" Grosul earned the win for the Burlington White Sox. The potty mouthed starting pitcher gave up 12 hits and 4 runs over 7 innings, striking out 5 and walking none.

Chris Banko took the loss for the Stoney Creek Snipers. The veteran starter went 5 innings, surrendering 6 runs (5 earned) on 8 hits, striking out 2 and walking 3.

It's worth noting that despite the Sox manager getting more verbal abuse in a GHBL game then ANYONE EVER. That manager does not discrimate or retaliate. Why you ask? Saavy. It was the saavy manager who knew what cards to play and just whom to call up on a short-handed night for the Sox. And that call up, (with Yoasobi by his side) went 1-2 in the game and hit the difference making 2 run tater to put the Sox over the top. Well done our most honorable (and honorary member) Brad Ellis!

Worthy game notes as follows:

- J-Lay with 2 RBIs to match Brad Ellis in that department.
- Brett Graham with 2 screamers to lead the Sox in hits.

- Troy Valeriano had a huge day going 3-3 at the plate while also hitting an "Apple Knocker" off the aforementioned Pedro.

Next up for the Sox, the battle for the pennant with those pesky Pirates on Tuesday night at Millcroft! If you don't come watch this one then you don't love baseball!
