Bombers Tame the Mavericks 16-0
The SPAA Bombers took on the Mavericks at Shady Springs field #10 in a 6:00pm contest. The Bombers scored a couple early runs and then exploded in the latter innings piling up a total of 16 runs while the Bombers pitching staff kept the Mavericks in check. Nick Mundy was the offensive leader going 4-4 with two homeruns and 8 RBI. Every Bomber had a hit except Josh who just didn't see any pitches to hit and walked 3 times.
Tyler Keane flashed his glove again at the Hot Corner and Matthew Dennison in his first game collected 2 hits.
Tate Matheny started a double play by pouncing on a check swing hit down the first base line, tagged the batter and then fired to third to nab the runner who was already on board trying to advance.
Josh Gwaltney kept the Mavericks off the board late in the game when he got under a high fly ball to center and made the grab.
Currently the Bombers pitching staff has a league leading ERA of .50 after two games and the offense is averaging 12 runs per game.
The Bombers are now headed to the Rawlings Invitational tournament in Chesterfield where they have an excellent chance at bringing home some hardware for their efforts. Good Luck, Bomb Squad!!
