Allerdice falls in a tight game against the champions.
IT finally looks like the Allerdice squad was able to pull it all together and play a close game with the big dogs.
All the starter girls got hits for Allerdice with slugging CF Luke Boughton going 5 for 5 in the leadoff spot increasing his average to .900 (9-10) on the year, but it wasn't enough to hold off last years Champion runner up, Spring St. Deli (3-0), who came surging back with a 7 run 5th inning as they batted around the order and held off Allerdice as they failed to capitalize on a bases loaded 6th and 7th inning.
Team Captain Moe played LF in place of Sloppy Joe and after a shaky first flyball, turned in a stellar defensive effort that included 8 putouts. He was also 4 for 5 at the plate.
Sloppy Joe (0-1, 21.00 ERA) pitched 5 strong innings in a losing effort. Slop got into trouble when he led off the 5th with two walks and it seemed he couldn't buy an out. The inning ended with a defensive effort from Allerdice's CF Boughton and a little greed from Spring Street's P Brumley as he was tagged out trying advance to third. Brumley was 3 for 3 against Slop. This was Sloppy Joe first start for the Dice.
Allerdice (0-3) will head on the road to Millrock Field and take on the Factory eatery and spirits (2-0) on Thursday. They are coming off a rain postponement last week against CST.
**Allerdice's Matt Curtis and Brad Gaborow were both out for wednesday's game. Curtis will be out six weeks with a broken collarbone and Gaborow was resting a hamstring he injured during a scrimage with spring street deli. Gaborow (0-1, 14.85 ERA, 1K) is scheduled to start thursday's game against the Factory.
**Groundhog continues to struggle at the plate going 0 for 3 and lowering his average to .167(1 for 6) in three games.
