Power Surge For DBacks In Corraling Mustangs
After nine games without a dinger, the SM Diamondbacks busted out the power sticks at South Pasadena High. Keith Metoyer slugged a 2-run shot to LF in a 5-run 1st inning. Then with the Snakes holding on to an 8-6 lead in the 7th inning, Jason McClure launched a 2-run shot over the CF fence, followed later by Dion Deas mammoth bomb to center for a 3-run homer. The power show complemented Robert Lewis' complete-game pitching effort, striking out 8 and allowed just 1 earned run. 2b Mike Thompson batted 4-for-5, 3B Lonnie Jackson was 3-for-4 with 4 runs scored courtesy the courtesy runners, and Lewis snapped out of a slump with a 3-for-4 (2 RBI) day.
