Golden blast keys Clipper win!!

Ryan Golden crushed a three run home run in the bottom of the third inning to put Carlton ahead to stay as the Clippers improved to 2 wins and 1 loss with a 5-3 victory over Elks on Friday. Carlton jumped out to the early 1-0 lead when Joey Rosado scored in the first inning on a single by Shawn Whittier. The Elks responded in the third when Sarah Papponetti (two hits on the day and several nice plays in the field) and Jose Serafin scored to briefly put the Elks in front. After Golden's home run to deep left field brought in three runs, the teams traded runs in the fourth before the Clippers snuffed out an Elks rally in the 6th. Zack McClellan and Joel Smith each pitched three innings with McClellan recording his first career win. Levi Boyer had two hits for the Elks. Jared Thompson pitched for the Elks and struck out 8.
