Murderer's Row Pace Snakes Victory
The Nos. 2-5 hitters for the Diamondbacks combined for 13 hits, 11 runs and 10 RBI as the Snakes downed the Diablos on a hot day at South Pas. No. 2 hitter and 1B Eddie Barbini was a home run shy of the cycle and No. 4 hitter/C Jason McClure went 4-for-4 with 5 RBI, including a 3-run homer over the CF fence in the first inning. No. 3 hitter/3B Buck Grayson was 3-for-4 with 2 RBI and No. 5 hitter/1B Lonnie Jackson was 3-for-4 with 3 RBI. The beneficiary of the offensive onslaught was manager and starting pitcher Robert Lewis, who pitched 6 innings for his 3rd win, allowing just 6 hits. He was 2-for-4 with a double at the plate, and CF Derek Moore added 2 hits. The Diablos' Paul Branconier hit a 2-run homer in the 1st inning and made a couple of nice catches in CF. Dbacks LF Keith Metoyer made a catch that reminded people of Al Gionfriddo in the '47 WS as the lefty had a circus, extended one-hand grab on a ball that was down the LF line approaching just a few feet from the side fence.
