Cubbies take charge on opening day
On a perfect day for baseball, the Cubs defeated the Mets 13-6.
The Mets took a 2-0 lead with a HR on a 3-0 pitch by Rod "Hutch" Hutchinson (2-4,hr,2b,3rbi) in the top of the 1st. But the Cubs showed no rust and put up 4 of their own in the bottom of the frame. It stayed 4-2 till the bot 6th when Kirk Mayer (3-4,2 2b,3r,3rbi) hit a bases loaded 2b off the wall. D Martinez (3-4,2b) and Jaime Miranda (3-3,2r,bb) also started the season off red hot to lead the Cubbies.
