Squires Win Opener

The Clowns chipped away early with a combination of patience at the plate and timely baserunning, but the Squires finally broke through in the 6th to narrow the lead to just one run. Maintaining solid defense throughout the game, the Squires managed to keep a determined Clowns team nervous and eventually broke through with a monster 6-run 9th inning, all but dashing the Clowns' hopes of victory.
Great game by both teams, with the Clowns' Coleman Costello pitching 5 very effective innings. The Squires' Steve Snyder played like a man possessed, amassing 2 very timely hits, along with a stellar defensive performance at third base.
