Holy Cross Legends Flip the Script, Shut Down Wasted Talents Holy Cross Legends Flip the Script, Shut Down Wasted Talents in Stunning Second Half By Gary Pearson Turner GOSHEN, NY The Legends Oh, theyre real. And on Sunday afternoon, they carved their name into the hardwood of Court 1 with a second-half blitz that turned a close game into a clear statement. Holy Cross Legends 58, Wasted Talents 41 and the score only tells half the story. For two quarters, it looked like another Wasted Talents showcase. Kendrick Ray was cooking. The squad dropped 30 in the first half, raining in six threes, and had the Legends trailing by three at the break. It felt like they were about to run away with it. Then the Legends walked in with lunch-pail defense and that old-school mentality. Wasted Talents scored 11 total in the second half. That's not a typo. Thats a defensive wall being built in real time. No more space for threes. No more open cuts. No more easy buckets. Just stops. Boards. And buckets the other way. Ricky Vreeland led the charge for Holy Cross with 17 hard-earned points, mixing drives with long-range daggers and staying cool at the line. Conor Perez was ice too 16 points, including three bombs that felt like daggers to the Wasted Talents bench. Those two ran the offense like pros, and when they werent scoring, they were setting the tone. Wyatt Vreeland Quiet 6. Loud hustle. Big moments. His defense helped seal the perimeter. Scott Reisert and Stanley Buczek kept bodies flying in the paint, and Mike McLaughlin gave them strong minutes when things got chippy. Meanwhile, Wasted Talents looked like they hit a wall emotionally, physically, mentally. Kendrick Ray finished with 21 but was swarmed every touch in the second half. The rhythm was gone. The ball stuck. The movement died. Keeshawn Jones and Marcus Rhett tried to create, but the Legends clamped up and forced everything outside. It was lockdown basketball nothing cute, just pure grit. From down three to up 17 thats a 20-point swing fueled by defense, rebounding, and the kind of confidence that grows with every stop. Holy Cross Legends didnt just beat Wasted Talents. They silenced them. And if this is how the Legends are rolling now The rest of the league better bring more than hype. Because Holy Cross is bringing hammers.
