We Them 1's Grind Past Blue Hearts in Gritty 62-56 Win In a game that tested poise and endurance, We Them 1's held off a feisty Blue Hearts squad to earn a 62-56 win in Saturday evening action at The Jumps 30 and Over League. The victory lifts We Them 1's to 4-1 on the season, good for a share of first place alongside Let it Fly and The Presidential Family in a tight three-way race. Meanwhile, the Blue Hearts drop to 0-5, still searching for their breakthrough win. Despite the final margin, the game was far from a cakewalk. Blue Hearts came out with energy, putting up 14 points in the opening quarter behind Kenny Jones' relentless attack. Jones was a force all night, finishing with 20 points, 2 triples, and 5 rebounds. But We Them 1's leaned on balanced production and their work on the boards to pull away late. Branden Gibson led all scorers with 23 points, converting 7 field goals and knocking down 9 free throws. He also snatched a game-high 9 rebounds, anchoring a squad that out-rebounded Blue Hearts 31-21. Shaquille Holley played one of his most complete games of the season, chipping in 6 points to go with 7 rebounds, 7 assists, 3 steals, and a block. His hustle on both ends gave We Them 1's a needed edge during a key fourth-quarter stretch. Tayuan Boddie (13 pts, 3 ast) and Darrel Brown (12 pts) offered consistent scoring from the wings, helping We Them 1's withstand a fourth-quarter push from Blue Hearts, who got late buckets from Cameron Palmer and Michael Pflugler. While Blue Hearts showed signs of growth particularly with their nine 3-pointers and Jones' leadership the search for their first win continues. Defensive rebounding and ball movement remain areas for improvement as they head into the second half of the season.
