The Texans break the Colts!
The Texans wanted to come out and set the tone which is exactly what they did as they whipped up on the Colts 40-0! The Texans started just like they like to, which is to kick the ball off. The Colts received the ball but wished they had not as they were peppered with shots by the Texans defense and it was a quick 4 plays and out. It did not take long for the Texans to show that it is going to be a long day for the Colts when Sam Straughan took it to the house up the middle for what looked to be a 37 yard score. Unfortunately, there was a holding call and it came back. Then on the very next play Alonzo Crawford got the Texans on the board, sprinting 47 yards for the touchdown. Sam Straughan bulled his way for the extra point and the Texans had a quick 7-0 lead. The Texans kicked it back but the Colts still were not sure if they even wanted it. The defense swarmed the ball and for every carry their backs had, they were hit about 10 times on that carry. On the third play, the Colts were tired of being hit and had a bad handoff when Isaiah Edwards pounced on it, to get the Texans possession of the football. The Texans powerful offense marched back on the field and 3 plays later Blake Hirsch took the ball around the end for 39 yards for a touchdown behind some great blocking. Cody Lyons ran over a Colt defender and added the extra point to push the score up to 14-0. The 2nd quarter was very similar to the 1st when the Colts ran into a defensive whirlwind. The Texans kept flying to the ball and the Colts had no idea where to turn for yards. Again, the stingy Texans defense forced a four and out series to give the Texans the ball back. Again this time it took the Texans only 3 plays when the Blake Hirsch followed some devastating blocks from the O-line consisting of Isaiah Edwards, Ramsey Fowler, Ryan Hirsch, Aaron Boucher, and Peyton McGinnis and went 29 yards for the Texans 3rd score of the game. Ryan Smith lined up at the fullback spot and powered his way through the interior line adding the extra point to take it to a 21-0 lead. The Colts knew they had to respond as they felt it getting away. However, the Texans did what they do best, which is to smack the back and keep the opponent down. For the 4th time in a row, the Colts were done on their first series when Trent Soechting crushed the QB as he was about to throw and Ramsey Fowler wrestled the ball from the Colts, giving the ball back to the Texans. Alonzo Crawford wasted little time as he followed the 2nd team blocking of Jordan Vera, Josh Ruzicka, Ryan Hirsch, Colby Rider, Connor Ughetta, and Connor Heussner, and went right up the gut for 47 yards as he made his 2nd touchdown of the game. The extra point attempt failed but the Texans now lead 27-0. The Texans kicked off but Huddleston missed it a little and it took a weird hop going right back into the Texans hands when Austin Weber fell on it. The Texans offense had one more shot to score some more points before the half. However, they only had about 1 1/2 minutes but that is all that they would need as Blake Hirsch on the 3rd play once again, weaved his way through the traffic in the middle of the field and sprinted 22 yards for his 3rd touchdown of the game. Once again the extra point on a pass attempt was no good but the Texans finished off the half with a 33-0 lead. The 2nd half was now on a rolling clock by rule so it would be a very short half. The Texans started the with their 2nd team offense and due to a little confusion in the backfield, the Texans had their first unproductive series of the game and they had to punt. The Colts got the ball back but negative yards was all that they could come up with and once again they turned the ball over on downs and the 3rd quarter ended. This time, the Texans offense did not sputter when Alonzo Crawford on the first play from scrimmage took off on the outside behind some nice blocks and went 37 yards for his 3rd touchdown of the game.
