Texans leave the Patriots defeated on the battle field!
The Texans met one of their long time rival teams for what could be their final matchup of their KYF careers. The Texans defeated the Patiots on the gridiron battle field 24-0! The game started with the Texans receiving the kickoff and the Pats had no idea what was about to hit other than the Heat pounding down on both teams. On the 2nd play of the game, Alonzo Crawford, followed 4 pancake blocks by Cody Lyons, Sam Straughan, Blake Hirsch and Cody Anderson and took it to the house for a 51 yard touchdown. The extra point failed but the Texans still had that first score, 6-0. The Patriots also had no idea that a swarm of Texans was about to attack their offense and there was no spray that could stop this buzz. It was a short 3 plays and out when the Pats had to punt. Then the Texans did something that they really had not had a chance to do this year which was to put together a long sustaining drive. The Texans drive was kept alive when on a 3rd and 9, Nicholas Mika dropped back and hit Cody Anderson for a 15 yard pass reception to keep the offense on the field. The drive took 9 plays, 75 yards, and over 5 minutes, which it ended with Blake Hirsch following some great blocking from Ramsey Fowler, Isaiah Edwards, Aaron Boucher, and Ryan Hirsch for a 11 yard touchdown run. Once again the extra point failed after the Texans made 2 straight penalties to push them selves in a hole. Nicholas Mika, however, did a great job in the open field to stop the Patriots from running back an interception which would have given them a safety on the extra point. The Texans kicked off and the Patriot returner was popped by Ryan Smith and Kiley Huddleston at the same time, which made the ball shoot out of his possession and Connor Heussner quickly pounced on the loose ball to keep in the Texans possession. The Texans 1st team offense was getting overheated so the 2nd team offense took the field and this time it only took one play as Blake Hirsch took it right between Josh Ruzicka and Colby Rider, avoiding a couple of tacklers and going 32 yards for his 2nd touchdown of the game. The extra point failed for the 3rd time but the Texans still carried a commanding 18-0 lead. The Patriots got the ball back but the Texans defense just kept coming. Josh Ruzicka recorded a sack and sent the Pats offense backwards. Once again, three and out and the Texans 2nd team offense had the ball. The big offense then proceeded to March the ball methodically down the field to the 1 yard line. Then the Patriots really bucked up and made a great goal line stand to prevent the Texans from sticking it in. The Pats only had time to run 2 plays and the half ended with the Texans on top 18-0. The Patriots received the ball first in the 2nd half and the stingy defense of the Texans lead by great play from Josh Ruzicka and Trent Soechting took the field and were determined to not allow a single yard, so they continued to push the Patriots offense backwards resulting in a turnover on downs. Once again the Texans took the ball down to the 1 yard line but failed to punch the ball in due to a very prideful Patriots defense and the Pats took the ball on their own two yard line. The Texans defense looked to push them back into a safety but the Patriots survived once again and had to punt. This time the Texans offense wasn''t going to take a chance of getting it down to the 1 and Nicholas Mika dropped back to hit Ryan Smith for a 12 yard touchdown pass and after a 4th failed extra point the Texans had run the score up to 24-0. The Pats got the ball back and showed a lot of fight as they tried to mount a drive when all of a sudden on 4th and 6, it happened....the Pats dropped back and hit an 8 yard pass to get the 1st first down that the Texans had allowed this year. However, the joy was shortly lived because 4 plays later the Patriots ran out of opportunity and turned the ball over on downs once again. The Texans decided enough was on the board and just took
