The Texans pound the Packers!
Coming off of a huge win against a huge Ravens team, the Texans needed to keep their focus toward a very much improved Packers team. They did just that as the Texans pounded the Packers 26-0! The Packers made their first mistake of the game when they won the toss and chose to defer, giving the Texans the first chance to score. They kicked it off and that was the last time the Packers where in the game as Blake Hirsch followed some awesome blocks and for the first time ever, the Texans returned the kickoff for a touchdown as Blake Hirsch turned on the jets for an 80 yard kick off return for a TD. The extra point failed however the Texans grabbed a quick 6-0 lead. The Packers knew they had to quickly respond to stay up with the Texans. On their first series they were able to muster up a 1st down and looked to be putting together a very nice drive. However, mistake number 2 occured as the QB dropped back and threw the ball right into Sam Straughans hands for the pick and he ran it back about 15 yards. The offense marched back out onto the field and started their drive. It looked as though the Texans were going to march the ball right down and get their 2nd score as they went into an 8 play drive but it stalled out around the Packers 25 yard line. Over joyed the Packers sprinted onto the field. However, the joy would not last long as it was a short 3 and out before the Pack had to punt and give it back to the Texans offense and this time the Texans were not going to be denied. A quick combo of Hirsch and Crawford took the ball 30 yards down field and then Alonzo Crawford made an awesome effort to break some tackles and then sprinted away for a 22 yard touchdown run. Once again, the extra point attempt faied but the Texans extended the lead to 12-0. Kiley Huddleston kicked the ball off but missed it and it turned into a great onside kick that Colby Rider quickly pounced on, giving the ball right back to the Texans. This time it only took the Texans 4 plays when Nicholas Mika dropped back into a beautiful pocket formed by the offensive line and hit Sam Straughan on a slant as he scampered the rest of the way for a 20 yard touchdown run. The exchange between the snapper and the holder on the extra point was dropped and the PAT was no good once again. The Texans now took their lead to 18-0. The Packers took the ball and showed a lot heart as they proceeded to march for their one of their longest series of the game. They converted 2 first downs but the half ended and the Texans took an 18-0 lead into the half. The Texans had to kickoff to start the 2nd half which just means that there is about to be some hitting by the Texans stud defense. The Packers received the ball and they proceeded to march as they did at the end of the 1st half. Again they moved the ball for 2 first downs and then the Texans defense woke up. The defense said enough was enough and Sam Straughan hit the Packers running back forcing a fumble that Connor Heussner quickly jumped on giving the ball back to the Texans. This time, the Texans wasted little time as Alonzo Crawford followed some great blocking by the offensive line of Ramsey Fowler, Isaiah Edwards, Cody Anderson, Ryan Hirsch, and Aaron Boucher, taking it 71 yards and showing off his speed for one of the longest touchdown runs of the year. Then it happened.....the Texans not only converted their extra point but it was by kicking it through the goal. Kiley Huddleston boomed the ball against the wind through the goal posts and the Texans stretched their lead to 26-0. The Packers could see the glimmer of hope disappear. The Texans defense would not allow another first down and the Pack had a 4th and 1 but they fumbled the snap turning the ball over on downs. Then the 2nd team offense of the Texans went to work. They methodically marched the ball down the field and when Blake Hirsch broke it outside for what looked to be a 5th score by the Texans the ref through the flag for a holdi
