Sons of Italy Lions MMSL Premier Division all-time record seventeen game winning streak, and 28 league game unbeaten streak heading back to last season came to an end with a 2-1 defeat versus Lucania. Lucania with the wind to their back dominated the first half of play and were rewarded with two first half goals, one by John-Franco Cassano, and a header by Marcello Paolucci which beat Lions goalkeeper Sean Sylvestre. The second half began with a red card to Lions midfielder Tevin Olivier-Job. The Lions would pull to within one on a Tony Nocita free kick which found its way into the Lucania goal with 12 minutes remaining in the match. With Sons of Italy pushing for the equalizer, a goal post and missed breakway by Lucania would almost prove to be costly as Sons of Italy missed two glorious corner kick attempts in the late going of the second half of play.
