Huge win as Groves Varsity beat its cross-town rivals Seaholm 3-0 last night.  The game was tied 0-0 at the half, Just 4 minutes into the second half, Groves senior Mario Blum-Alexander got inside positioning, collected a through ball from the outside from junior Ben Kostello and nailed a line drive toward the right post for the first goal.  Senior, Mori Miller, who was being harassed by the Seaholm players for most of the game was fouled in the Seaholm box and nailed the penalty kick at the 34th minute.  9 minutes later, Mori then received a pass from junior Bret Russell, blasted an opposite-foot shot just over the Seaholm goalie's head from almost 20 yards away.  The Groves defense and goalie didn't give up a goal let alone very many shots on goal with goalkeeper, Hugo Bonnefond, registering the shutout and collectively the team handed Seaholm (5-1-2, 2-1 in league play), and its new coach, its first loss. Groves Varsity are now 4-2-6  (3-0-1 in league play).
