wow...did you really take all of that time to look up those stats to make a political statement for a old man's baseball league...you could have done much better things with your time like spend it with your kids, wife, girlfriend, dog, routine call girl...then again...if you have none of these I suppose I undestand..

The 10-2 Reds. 10-2. Yes, that's their record. Despite their 30+ errors in 12 games. Despite the .263 team batting average. Despite the team WHIP of nearly 1.50: they finished the season 10-2. Compare this to the Dodgers: a team batting average of .343, a total of 19 errors in 11 games for a .948 fielding percentage, and a team ERA of 3.77. Compare the Reds to the Athletics: batting .373, team WHIP of about 1.10. Compare the Reds to the Crew: .338 BA and pitchers with a team WHIP of 0.90 and ERA under 3? It's clear that the schedule was kind to the Reds. It was kind to the Braves. It has been kind to the Barons. 1st place? 1st pretender... and out in the first round they have to play in the playoffs in my opinion.

Looks like someone uncovered a "Trekkie" in our little baseball family. HOLY CRAP! Matt, you mean to tell me you think Capt Cave man was cooler than Bugs Bunny? Your nuts! Bugs was THE coolest. Even in that "gay opera" episode.

Wow..you really have to define "cooler"..Kirk..with his really cheesy moves on hot alien ass...was really successful..maybe with all of those years in space, maybe we didn't get the episodes where he was shot down by the purple "chik", she was literally a chick...with 6 boobs...or the episode where the transparent hottie with 4 arms..bitch slapped him to the ground for actually using really suave moves...he realized that stuff wasn't working, so he reverted to pure cheeiness...but the really thing that turned me off to the guy was the way he falls when the ship is getting rocked by eneny fire..pure panzy.. hell..Uhura (the black girl) fell more gracefully.. and I must admit..when making captains log (not in the bathroom, but when he is commenting on the daily activities, although imagine the face he makes when making captains log..I mean look at the face he makes when he is dictating captains log)he really annoys the crap out of me..but we must go back to the fact that he certainly gets much more alien ass than his future counterpart...now Picard..although he doesn't really compare to Kirk in "gettin him some"...to me he is the man with the plan.. the real guy you want to captain your ship..if nothing else, he falls much more gracefully..and come on...he looks more like a captain...he acts more like a captain.. he's the real deal...but let's go back to the question.. who's cooler? Well, truth be told..if it were guys night out...Kirk is your man....

Wow, usually all the mud slinging at this time of the year is only reserved for the redsox home page. Being the manager this year, I can attest that is not alot of fun. So with Blev having to manage his team and manage the league he deserves at tremendous "hats off, (or visor if you are into that kind of gay thing)". With the restack someteam was going to "benefit" from being in the #9 slot. It just happened to be the Reds and thats the way the ball bounces. At the begining of the year we all agreed to make it hockey style playoffs with "half" the teams making the playoffs, (or as I call it the Astros rule, cause they seemed to miss the playoffs by one postition, which happens to be the case this year again). Maybe next year 10 can make the playoffs, 2 top records get byes, unless the Astros are #11, they get an exemption not matter what. Also, I devolped a respect for the players for fighting us in all 3 games we played this year, but I am so glad they do not have a Guestbook, cause of all the verbal bashing they would have endured. Now the humor. Matty, who's cooler, Capt Kirk or Picard? #99, I will believe you have a crush on me when you show up Sunday wearing a sleevless shirt and a visor (and shave,.... not just your face), untill then its all fake!!

Just for the record--i doubt that anyone in the league except a few of the Dodgers (maybe just one, pardon me if i'm lumping anyone in that doesn't deserve to be) has any problems with the way that Brian handles league issues. There's no way that things are done to give the Reds a competitive advantage or put anyone else at a disadvantage. I've been in this league for only four years, but have watched very tough situations (protests, player eligibility, rainouts, etc) all handled in a fair and judicious manner. Anyone who has every managed or run an organization knows how much time, effort and energy goes into running this league and i'm proud to be a part of it, as is everyone on our team. take one look at how long it takes most managers to collect dues from their own teams and that's one simple admin task and the season is delayed every year because most can't do that one simple thing--and then look at all that gets accomplished by Brian and that should tell you how well this league is run. It's easy to criticize, but I think all of us own Brian a world of gratitude for keeping this league rolling so smoothly (ever glance throught that hardball magazine we get for free--this is one of the largest leagues in the country and it runs like a professional organization). Just something to think about before throwing stones.

Hey REALITY, why do you need to hide your name? We are all men here and should be able to debate issues like adults. I know Brian loves a good debate and I put my money on his skills as a debator, manager, teacher and person. Good luck with that one as you saw his response that was non-combative and explanatory. Hell, I would have told to f... yourself and here is your money back. Get a life, it's a rec league.

Mr. Reality, If your team was hurt in the restack by having to play a tougher schedule, I would argue that tough games would help get you playoff-ready. If your team could not beat the top tier teams then, It is highly unlikely you would have beaten the Titans w/ Brock or the Red Sox w/ Hingle in an elimination game. You were likely saved 9 innings of torture!

BTW,This exemption crap has got to go,Brian, explain this. It seems every year teams ask for players to be added that were not even close to playing in the league min. of inns When issues like this are brought to your atten, you usually double talk your way out of it and conviently circumnavigate the subject

Dear Reality, I want to thank you for reminding me that respect and integrity are not ever implied, they must be continuously earned, and I obviously have not earned yours, and if you are writing, perhaps others feel the same way.You are most assuredly entitled to your opinion as to the fairness of the restack, but your exhaustive statistical research is flawed, if I may be so bold. The agreement as approved by your manager at the league meeting, was to restack second half opponents by record as of close of play on April 6, not the 14th. The final eight games were to be played against teams of similar record at that writing. As some teams would have more teams below them and some teams more above them, the handicap, as it were, would be most evident, then increasingly less so, the further down in the standings you were. So Team 1 plays teams 2-7, and Team 16 would play Teams 15-9, and so forth. That worked great except for the teams in the middle, who would run out of opposition that wouldn;t already be booked against teams directly next to them in the stack. So those teams, #11, #10, #9 and # 8 would need to reach further above and below the teams with most similar records. In other words, #11 would need to play a # 3, and a # 16; # 10 would play #15 and a # 2, and so forth. As you might imagine, this is a rather tedious process, but I got it right, down to the letter. The procedure and results were explained in an EMail to the managers, perhaps you weren't privy to that explanation, for that I again apologize. I did not post all of this on the website, because as you see, it is quite wordy, and rather banal, but I can see you are upset, so I wanted to clarify it here for you. As of April 6, the Reds were in 9th place, and the remaining schedule for the Reds, as all other teams was released accordingly. I understand that I walk a fine line to maintain the trust of all of our players in my dual capacity, and I can only assure you that I am ever mindful of avoiding the perception you express today. I realize that from a schedule-perspective that there was certainly an advantage to being in the middle at the restack date, and even discussed that very point at the aforementioned league meeting. To say that I managed the Reds to land there to take advantage would be giving me way too much credit, but that was the hand fortune dealt, and my team members rose to the occasion. I have few vanities, but I do take some small pride in having been able to get this very talented but new to each other Reds players to channel their collective efforts. I personally take no offense at your derision of our efforts, and I promise to be more vigilant in the future to regain your trust, but I am quick to defend this blend of young and old ballplayers we have who have fought so hard, and fairly and squarely to pick themselves up and reach the playoffs. Their reputations should never be impugned by my actions, one more reason I'm ultra-careful not to circumvent the rules. In the future, pick up the phone, EMail me, let me know yor concerns, I truly appreciate the Band of Brothers we have out here playing this maddening game, and I want you to feel comfortable playing this game we all love so much with complete confidence that we all are playing on a (relatively) level field.

The comments posted by reality...somewhat of an irony within this persons post...first has entirely way too much time on his/her hands...second, has entirely way too much time on his/her hands...and third, has entirely way too much time on your hands...I plead, with true sanity in mind..take that time...use if for something constructive...something positive...hell...Mr. Blevins has put together a wonderful project for the local inner city kids right within our league...right within our field...please..for the love of God...go down there...give some of that time and energy you waste going over and researching such useless and pointless information, towards something good...because reality...and I can't count how many times I have said this with many of the rants and raves on the various guestbooks, protests, arguments, and outright chaos on the field...reality is, this is a men's amateur league, one in which I, you, everyone...well almost everyone...as for years Mr. Blevins again the satanic monger that he is...covers the dues of some of the less fortunate in the league that are slow to pay/not pay at all...and one in which the outcome at the end of the season really has no bearing on the lives of anyone in this league...granted its a fun place to come and hang with some good folks, a good bout of enjoyable competition, and even some fun..FUN..banter every once in a while...but the REALITY is...we all go home and go on with our lives...Mr. Blevins works his ass off for this league, does a lot for the community, and most of all continues to DO it every year...no matter the b/s he has to put up with, no matter the whining that comes his way every week, no matter how mother nature messes up scheduling and having to deal with the city and the angry folks that work at the complex...and whether or not the info you provided was accurate...again it is useless and pointless information...oh and by the way...some of those wins the Reds scraped away..well they were against top tear teams...including us..the top seed...Titans...so please...with the utmost compassion behind this rant..Mr. reality...find the truth in reality and use this time to contribute some good to the world...and quit sitting in your chair..staring at the computer...steaming over useless information..making yourself angry and likely those around you uncomfortable with all of this negative energy...LIVE LONG AND PROSPER>>>

this league use to have so much class. funny how the arrival of a couple certain teams(in the last 2-3years) has tainted that image.
