October 22, 2013

ANGELS PLAYER STATUS (UPDATED: 11/02/2014)

AND THAT ANY PLAYER CAN BE RELIEVED FROM A POSITION AT ANY TIME DURING A CONTEST OR GAME WHEN THEIR PERFORMANCE IS LESS THAN AVERAGE.

THE PLAYER STATUS LEVELS FOR THE 2013 SAN ANTONIO ANGELS ARE AS FOLLOWS:

A FRANCHISE STARTER: IS A FIRST STRING PLAYER THAT CONTRIBUTES THE FULL PAYMENT FOR THE SEASON. THE FULL PRICE AS OF 1/13/2013 IS $400, WHICH INCLUDES: LEAGUE FEES, UMPIRE FEES AND LEAGUE APPROVED BASEBALLS. A FRANCHISE PLAYER IS A FULL MEMBER, AND HAS A FULL SHARE OF OWNERSHIP IN THE TEAM.

A REGULAR PLAYER IS A FIRST, SECOND OR THIRD STRING PLAYER THAT CONTRIBUTES OVER 65% AND LESS THAN 80% ($260-320) OF THE FULL PRICE OF $400. 2012 Team and Player Budget

February 12, 2012
1. Team member cost include entry fee, umpire charges, baseballs and new jersey. Player Status is based on the percentage the player pays and a percentage of games played.

2. Caps, bats, batting helmets, other uniform apparel and other equipment expenses are optional expenses for each member.

3. League Entry fee: $3500, Umpire total fee: $1500, Baseball cost: $200 and new Jersey: $41, or $42 for XXL. Optional expenses such as: batting helmet: $15 to $25, wood bats: $21 and up, cap (L.A. Angels-Red): $6 and up, baseball pants (white with or without red piping): $12.99 and up, red belt: $4+, red sox, etc....

4. Basic example: Fees/Team-Players and jersey: $3500/15=234, 1500/15=100, 200/15=14 and 41 for new jersey. The total cost per player $389 or 390.

5. These calculations are based on 15 player's paying full price. However, we are implementing the 'Angels Player Status' program and all players may not be paying full price to play, therefore, all funds will be accounted for and used for fees first, then to purchase new equipment. Our batting helmets are really old and used, any additional funds will be used to purchase at least 4 new batting helmets.

I HATE TO TELL SOME OF YOU THIS, BUT I TURNED IN OUR WAIVER FORMS TO SKIP TODAY. HE SAID THAT WE CAN'T PLAY UNDER THIS WAIVER FORM BECAUSE IT WAS FROM 2010 OR 2011. I TRIED TO REASON WITH HIM EXPLAINING ITS A TWO YEAR DOCUMENT, AND SOME OF YOU SIGNED IT LAST SEASON.
THE REST OF YOU SIGNED LAST YEARS COPY AS WELL. BUT, HE WOULD NOT BUDGE ON THE MATTER. HE SAID THAT NONE OF US CAN SET FOOT ON THE FIELD UNTIL WE HAVE SIGNED THE 2012 WAIVER. I HAVE ALREADY PRINTED A COPY OFF THE SAMSBL.COM WEBSITE AND WILL MAKE COPIES FOR US ALL TO SIGN BEFORE THE GAME STARTS ON SUNDAY!!!

I AM TRULY SORRY ABOUT THIS...SIX!

Payment, Deadlines and Suspensions

February 5, 2012

Reminder, "Player Fees", 90% of your Total Payment must be made to the Angels manager by 2/11/2012, due to SAMSBL entry fee deadline. Fees can be made after deadline, however, players will be suspended from the early season games due to late payment. Some players are paid in full and ready to start in all games. Payments made on time and before the deadline will insure your place in the lineup. Please, make every effort to meet the deadline.

Thank you, Six.

Suspensions: I will make every effort to take late payments after the imposed deadline, be that as it may, I expect players to make their payments in a timely manner and to be accountable for their player fee. No player on this team will get a free ride. Players will be suspended until they meet the necessary payment arrangements and will be listed on the roster according to their player status.

The San Antonio Angels, 2009-2012 (photo above, 2010 Angels)

San Antonio Angels are about to embark on their fourth season. Manager, Sixto Aleman is confident that this will be their finest season ever. The team is combining its talent from returning veteran players from 2009, 2010 and the 2011 seasons, as well as signing up other veteran MSBL players from other teams. The first season, in 2009, was in another league and had too many problems with errors on defense being the worse, the pitching wasn't bad when it showed up and the hitting was not an issue. In 2010, the Angels were determined to finish on top. The team was scoring runs and batting the live long day and the defense had changed dramatically, making few errors, but the pitching staff fell way off target too many times. With only needing one win in the last 3 games to finish in the top 2, the Angels dropped all 3. Then, in 2011, we decided to change leagues and joined the SAMSBL for a short Spring season. We did not have a good transition from one league to the other. We could have done better and should've. However, that season is over and it's time to start fresh and new. From me to you all, welcome and welcome back to another year of Angels Baseball. Good Luck and Godspeed!

San Antonio MSBL Manager's Meeting Details...

November 11, 2011
Skip Bradley, our league president, had much to say about SAMSBL teams and their success in Phoenix. The construction on the SAMSBL fields continues and can be seen off Hwy 151, near Old Castroville Rd and Callaghan Rd. Then, he introduced a gentleman that makes custom made wood bats ($60+). He also wants managers and players to visit the league website, WWW.SAMSBL.COM for future league news, workdays for those who wish to volunteer and to remind everyone to review league rules, etc.

Angels @ Nelson Wolfe Stadium and a Note from Coach Aleman

This season is almost complete. It was disappointing and frustrating at times for us all. Our offense, pitching, defense and so many things did not come together. But, I know some players have the character and are determined to finish this season. I hope that you plan to return next season, as an Angel. Remember this, all teams play to win, some teams win, some lose and some teams play all their players win or lose. I hope that I have fulfilled that obligation for you to get adequate playing time for the price you pay. I want to thank you being an Angel, best wishes to you all and God Bless You.

Latest News...Fall Season off to a slow start...

September 19, 2011
No, it's not a lockout, although, it might feel like it. It's Fall Ball. Unlike Spring and Summer Ball, the Fall season does not have definite or defined teams. But, many regular season and tournament teams are looking for games in preparation for their trip to Phoenix and the World Series Tournament, coming up in October. These are the teams we will play. I am sorry for the inconvenience and unorganized nature that is being displayed by the league. The SAMSBL is a top-notch league and has been for over 20 years. Please be patient and understanding while the schedule is updated.

Call from Skip!

July 9, 2011
I got a call from Skip, Thursday. He asked if the Angels were still going to play Fall ball. I told him, "Yes." He said, "Good, and that he will have a Manager's meeting for the Fall Season in August." We will have 3 or 4 practice days in August before the season begins. We might be short on players, so bring a friend or two to practice and we'll give them a try.

Thanks, Manager

End of the Season, Fall Ball: Sept. - Oct. 2011 and Next Spring

Last 2 games left in the Spring 2011 Season, Sunday, June 5th, in Seguin, Tx @ Guadelupe County Fairgrounds. We play the Tejano's @ 11 A.M. and the Twins @ 3 P.M. We will have a limited number of players on hand for the morning game. An additional player may show up for the afternoon game. Only 9-11 players will make this trip. It's been decided. I will not BBQ between games. There will be an hour for a quick lunch break between games from 2-3pm. There are a few restaurants nearby to get a bite. Remember, be quick, in and out, grab and go, we need to be back at the field before 3 pm.
Have a Great Summer Vacation! Fall Ball will start in early Sept. and end in late Oct. Many teams from SAMSBL will be heading to Phoenix and The World Series during this time. So, Fall Ball will be an 18+ Open Division Only. The season will consist of 5 or 6 games, no playoffs and cost about $100-$125. If you are interested in playing this Fall, click on the "Forum" or "Guestbook" to sign up, call or txt me as well.
As for next season, some players have made it clear that they will not return next spring. For those of you that plan on playing again as an Angel, we will be adding a 35+ Angels team to our Ball Club. So, we will have an 18+ Angels team for you younger guys and a 35+ Angels team for the young gentlemen at a more experienced age. I will be signing up players for both teams through February 1, 2012. Any players that want to play on either team or on both teams, please call or txt me, or "click" on the "Forum" or "Guestbook" of this page and sign in.

WELCOME TWO MORE PLAYERS TO THE TEAM!

WELCOME BACK! RANDY DIAZ AND BEN VILLALOBOS. BOTH BEN AND RANDY PLAYED FOR THE 30+ BRAVES BACK IN 2006 WITH CHRIS AMAYA AND SIX. THEY ARE HARDWORKING AND CONFIDENT BALLPLAYERS THAT CAN HELP THE BALL CLUB.

Welcome our newest teammates to the S.A. Angels!

Introducing: Chris Arevalo, Joseph Fischer and Ryan Howe as the newest members of the 2011 S.A. Angels. Chris and Joseph are both catchers, outfielders and can play 3rd and 1st base as well. Ryan Howe is an outfielder and pitcher. Welcome!

How did practice go?

Well, I thought practice went well. Everyone looked decent at their positions and the hitting was very good. It looks like we will have more power at the plate and speed on the bases this year. We were missing 4 definite players, unfortunately. As of now, we have 5 open player slots to fill:Catchers, outfielders and pitchers. Thanks and see you next week.

Practice Starts this week! (Update-Tuesday 1-25-11)

UPDATE! WE WILL HAVE PRACTICE ON SUNDAY, JANUARY 30TH @ 2PM, DUE TO EDISON H.S. TRYOUTS ON SATURDAY. REFER TO THIS WEBSITE FOR ANY FURTHER CHANGES TO THE PRACTICE SCHEDULE. Please bring a photocopy of your DL, your signed waiver, a payment, etc. to practice. I will handout contract waivers if you haven't recieved one.

THIS IS IT! THE FINAL WEEK. THE SEASON IS COMING TO AN END. I WISH I COULD SAY IT HAS BEEN THE BEST SEASON EVER. HOWEVER, I CAN SAY THAT THE 2010 ANGELS HAD MANY QUALITIES THAT MADE FOR A GREAT TEAM. THAT'S RIGHT! THE ANGELS ARE DUE FOR A VICTORY. AFTER SUFFERING TWO HUMBLING DEFEATS, 15-11 BY THE METS AND 15-4 BY THE EAGLES. I AM DETERMINED TO USE ARE ASSETS TO WIN. WE HAVE STRONG BATS, EXPERIENCED PLAYERS, YOUTH AND ATTITUDE. LET'S FOCUS ON OUR POSITIVE ATTRIBUTES ANGELS' AND LEAVE OUR SHORTCOMINGS BEHIND.

ANGELS WIN AND WIN AGAIN!

WE DID IT! TWO WINS IN A DOUBLEHEADER, GOOD JOB. WE ARE THE FIRST TEAM TO WIN BOTH GAMES THIS SEASON. I HAD A FEELING THAT WE WERE DUE TO WIN. YOU ALL PLAYED HARD AND MADE A GREAT COMEBACK POSSIBLE. DOWN 10-1 IN THE 3RD INNING, WE PULLED TOGETHER TO PREVAIL IN GAME 1 AND OUR MOMENTUM CARRIED ON THROUGH GAME 2. KIU

Good win, not so good loss!

NOT SO GOOD LOSS...WE SCORED RUNS, THE DEFENSE MADE SOME GOOD PLAYS, MADE SOME ERRORS AND FELL ASLEEP. OUR PITCHERS NEED TO THROW STRIKES AND LET THE DEFENSE DO THEIR JOB. GOOD WIN! GREAT JOB PITCHING GIB AND JOSH, OUR FIELDING AND BATS REALLY CAME TOGETHER. GREAT TEAM EFFORT.

SAMSBL 2012-APRIL SCHEDULE

Another Loss for the Angels

I will have to make some tough decisions this week. I am the Manager, but this is our team. Tell me: What is important to you?, what do you want from your team and teammates? and what are you willing to do? To win, to play, to have fun, to play another position, to work harder, to practice, to see that everyone gets to play, to give 100% effort, to do your best: win or lose...

What Happened?

After defeating one opponent and scoring over 20 runs, the Angels only scored 4 runs and lost 15 to 4 to another. There's truth in the saying, "you win some and you lose some." But, we are a better team. We will have to come back in our next game and prove to ourselves who we really are. Let that one go, it's history! Use it this week as your "tackling fuel."

Angels Win Again

GREAT GAME GENTLEMEN! The hitting was spectacular. Our fielding showed up and got the job done. Congrats to our winning pitcher, Gibby Herrera, and relievers Sixto Aleman (that's me) and Patrick Ybarra. Our Best Game This Season, So Far. Keep up the good work.

Angels New and Review

Introducing 3 new players to our team: Paul Sotelo, Josh Sotelo and Patrick Ybarra.
Another player we will add to our roster next week is Christian Sifuentes.
Last week, we played well, we were professional: our hitting was great, our fielding can and will improve, our pitchers battled. Pitchers, if you need to throw between innings, get it done. Or, tell me.

NEW NEWS FOR ANGELS 2-28-10

Latest News-Angels Practice, Manager’s Meeting and League/Team Dues (Fees)
2-28-2010
Practice: Our practice today was very good and productive. For the first time, we actually took outfield and had a complete infield. Then, we had batting practice. In attendance were Chris Gonzales, Brad Frantz, Steve Prado, Chris Amaya, Carlos Sanchez and Sixto Aleman. I would, especially like to thank Coach Montemayor (Edison H.S), Roland Gonzales and Willie for their help and support. These workouts I know will benefit our team come opening day.

Managers Meeting: Wes Rogers discussed some interesting issues at the manager’s meeting on Saturday. First, he is excited about the season that will be starting on April 11th. He also stated that there will be tryouts for new players on March 21st. He is very proud for the league to be sponsoring the Wounded Warriors Veteran’s Classic. This game will be played on September 4 and will feature Major League Baseball Players (HOF) and known celebrities. He also reminded us to communicate to our players that we our playing because we love the game. It is important that we play aggressively and try to win ball games. However, we should conduct ourselves as professionals and not attempt to purposely injure or deliberately take anyone out of the game.

League/Team Dues (Fees): Wes has decided that is extremely important that all managers receive each player’s fee by March 31st. He has stated and posted on the STBL website @ www.leaguelineup.com/stbl that any player that is not paid in full by opening day may not be added to a team roster or play in a game until their fees are paid. See you all next practice, Six

NEW NEWS FOR ANGELS 2-15-10

UNFORTUNATELY, ANOTHER PRACTICE HAD TO BE CANCELED. THE FIELD WAS TOO SATURATED FROM ALL THE RAIN AND COLD WEATHER LAST WEEK. MORE INFORMATION ABOUT OUR NEXT PRACTICE WILL FOLLOW.

HERE ARE SOME UPCOMING DETAILS I RECEIVED FROM STBL PRESIDENT, WES ROGERS. FIRST, WES SAID THAT HE WOULD LIKE TO WELCOME OUR TEAM BACK, AND HE APPRECIATES OUR LOYALTY TO THE LEAGUE. HE REMINDED ME ABOUT THE UPCOMING MANAGERS MEETING IN A COUPLE WEEKS. HE ALSO TOLD ME THAT HE ANTICIPATES THE LEAGUE OPENING DAY TO BE THE SECOND WEEK OF APRIL.

KNOWING THAT THERE IS ONLY 6 OR 7 WEEKENDS LEFT TILL APRIL, OUR PRACTICES WILL HAVE TO BE MORE FREQUENT. HOPEFULLY, THIS WILL MAKE IT MORE CONVENIENT FOR PLAYERS TO MAKE PRACTICES. SO OUR PRACTICE SCHEDULE WILL BE FEBRUARY 21ST, 28TH, MARCH 7TH, 14TH, 21ST, 28TH AND APRIL 4TH. ALL PRACTICES WILL BE AT EDISON HIGH SCHOOL AT 12PM. I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO CHANGE PRACTICE TIMES, IF NECESSARY. ALL TEAM MEMBERS WILL BE INFORMED IN A TIMELY MANNER.

ITS FEBRUARY, OUR SEASON WILL BE STARTING IN A COUPLE OF MONTHS. THERE HAS BEEN CONSTANT CONTACT BETWEEN ME AND ELEVEN PLAYERS. I AM CONFIDENT THAT THESE ELEVEN WILL PLAY THIS SEASON. Angels Next Practice

WELL, WE HAD 5 PLAYERS SHOW UP FOR THE JANUARY 17TH PRACTICE. IN ATTENDANCE WERE CHRIS G., BRAD F., PABLO R., WILL W., AND SIXTO A. FOUR PLAYERS CALLED TO SAY THAT THEY WOULD BE UNABLE TO ATTEND (JUAN S., STEVE P., MARTIN E. AND CHRIS A). THE WEATHER WAS COLD AND THE INFIELD WAS SOGGY. DESPITE THE ADVERSE CONDITIONS WE MADE THE BEST OF IT. WE WARMED UP, TOOK A LITTLE FUNGO IN THE OUTFIELD AND HAD ONE ROUND OF BATTING PRACTICE. BRAD MADE A SUGGESTION TO ME THAT PITCHERS AND CATCHERS GET SOME WORK IN NEXT PRACTICE. I AGREE WITH HIS SUGGESTION, BUT IN ORDER TO DO SO WE WILL NEED MORE PLAYERS ATTEND THESE PRACTICES, ESPECIALLY, PITCHERS AND CATCHERS. I APPRECIATE YOU GUYS FOR COMING OUT.

NEXT PRACTICE:

JANUARY 31 @ EDISON HIGH SCHOOL @ 12 NOON.

ANGELS PRACTICE AND MORE

January 31, 2010
SORRY BOYS, PRACTICE WAS CANCELED DUE TO COLD WEATHER AND POOR FIELD CONDITIONS.
I APPRECIATE YOU GUYS FOR RESPONDING TO MY MESSAGES AND EMAILS. THANKS.
NEXT PRACTICE WILL BE @ EDISON H.S. ON FEBRUARY 14TH @ 12 NOON.
PAYMENTS
BE SURE TO BRING YOUR UNIFORM PAYMENTS NEXT PRACTICE, SO I CAN ORDER THEM. YOU CAN ALSO BEGIN MAKING YOUR PAYMENTS FOR YOUR PLAYER FEE. I DON’T HAVE THE PRECISE AMOUNT FOR THE LEAGUE, BUT, THE JERSEY AND CAP COST $20 TO $24 PER PLAYER.
ALSO, I WILL BE MEETING WITH WES IN FEBRUARY. HE WANTS $500 PER TEAM FOR FIELD RENTAL. I WILL NEED TO START COLLECTING EVERYONE’S SHARE. LAST YEAR, TOWN AND COUNTRY WAS ABOUT THE SAME PRICE AND CALCULATED INTO YOUR PLAYER FEE OF $280. THE DIFFERENCE BEING, HE WANTS AN UPFRONT PAYMENT THIS YEAR. WHEN WES GIVES ME THE TOTAL TEAM COST, I WILL INFORM THE TEAM. I PRESUME THE TOTAL COST PER PLAYER WILL BE BETWEEN $250 AND $300, THAT’S INCLUDING THE COST OF THE UNIFORM. I WILL DO MY BEST TO GET THE LOWEST PRICE I CAN.
See you in 2 weeks,
Sixto Aleman

Announcements

January 3, 2010
Welcome Back Angels: Ryan, Cliff, Brad, Chris, Brandon, Steve, Pablo, Juan and Sixto

And Welcome to the 2010 San Antonio Angels Baseball Team:
Chris Amaya, William Wallace, Robert Montes, Ben Villalobos, Randy Diaz, Shawn Boyd, Martin Esquivel...

In addition, I heard Chris Weber and Garrett Luthringer are returning to the team for another season, but I haven't recieved any confirmation from them. Your return will be most welcomed!

2014 Season Ends

+18 Angels finished 8th place in the 2014 season.

This will bring an end to my management of a +18 team. It has been an adventurous 6 year experience and nice meeting some of San Antonio's most interesting ballplayers from 2009-2014.

The +35 Angels finished in 6th place and will continue next season in 2015. The guys started catching on late in the season and began to work together as a team. The team displayed a balance of determination and harmony toward the end of the season. I am looking forward to our upcoming season.

There is a possibility that I may have a +45 team.

August 25, 2009
Well Angels that's it. The 2009 season is officially over. For those of you that stuck it out in the end. I was deeply impressed. Down to only eight players, you played with all your heart. I am proud of you all.

Welcome back to another season of Angels baseball!

Recap Angels vs Cardinals...

Angels Win! Incredible Comeback! Final score 8-9 over the Cardinals. Winning Pitcher: Colton Armstrong. After being down 8-2 in the 3rd, the Angels rallied in the 5th with 5 more runs to make the score 8-7, then tie the game 8-8 an inning later. In the final inning, the Cardinals had runners on 2nd and 3rd, no outs. Colton, the Angels pitcher, struck out the next better to get the first out. With one away, the next batter hits a line drive near first base, the Angels first baseman, Sixto Aleman dives for the ball to make the catch and throws the ball to shortstop, Matt Voges, to double up the runner at 2nd, to get the double play and the third out. In the Angels final at bat, Hector Campos lead off the inning to get on first base, followed by a walk for Sixto and a hit by pitch for Brad Frantz. The Cardinals pitcher, then strikes out the next two Angels batters. Now with 2 outs and the bases loaded, it was all up to Brandon Retzloff. He hits the first pitch down the line foul, misses the second for strike two, the third pitch was a ball and fouls off the next one. Now with 1 ball and 2 strikes on Brandon, he gets a hit to shallow left centerfield to bring in Hector and the winning run for the Angels.
