OVERVIEW

In the Spring of 2007 a bunch of close friends who were seniors at Marist College decided to put together an intramural softball team for their schools season. What started out as just a fun, laid back team that played once a week at school developed into an even bigger concept when a few of those same guys decided to create that team again post-graduation in the amateur leagues of ABA Sports on Long Island, NY. Original members John Larocchia, Mike DiGiaimo, Mark Louie, Joe Nosworthy and Dan Greenip all came together again for this new version of their intramural team. With Larocchia taking the helm as manager and Logan Bus Company signing on as their original team sponsor they all began the process of recruiting talented players to fill up the roster. Through a series of connections they were able to create a new and improved Slammers team. Sporting bright school bus yellow jerseys they took the field for their first ever season in the amateur leagues in the Fall of 2007.

This is a team that's success comes from its strong team chemistry, everybody gets a long, and that is something they are all very proud of. They have constantly been faced with challenges since their inaugural season but no matter what the case is they have always been able to come together as a team and rise up to the occasion.

In the Summer of 2008, only their second season ever, the Beasted Slammers made it to their first ever division championship and even though they did not come away with the title they proved that although they may be young when it comes to team existence they are a very talented group who will be a force to be reckoned with every season from here on out.

During the Fall 2008 season the Beasted Slammers officially changed their team colors to the royal blue and white that one would see today and upgraded to new uniforms (they would then go on to upgrade them again in Fall 2013). In the Fall 2010 season the Slammers captured their first ever division championship. They did so in convincing fashion sweeping through both rounds of the playoffs and winning the final game on a walk-off, bases loaded, two-out hit by Frankie Jaycox. It was an incredible moment in the history of the team and one that never will be forgotten. The Slammers were finally able to call themselves champions after coming close so many times.

This team has had it's fair share of ups and downs but no matter what they face the bottom line is that every member of this team loves playing the game and has fun every time they take the field. A lot of teams in this league play for winning and winning only and while the Slammers are a very intense group and one of the main focuses will always be to win, it will mostly be about having fun and enjoying the game. In the end, after all the team has experienced, this still is about those same group of close friends taking the field every week together. While there may be more issues down the line that is something that will NEVER change.

Oh, by the way, the only way to know what the heck the team name means is by being a member of the team...so you'll just have to keep guessing!
