BFL Rules and Regulations

Section 1 Roster Management
1. Teams must have at least 5 players. Teams may have up to 12 players on a roster.
2. Each player must be signed up and paid for by September 1st.
3. Player trades are legal.
a. To complete a trade two captains must agree, and then the league office must be
notified.
b. Any fees for jerseys must be covered by the captains and players. Players must
have new jerseys by the next play week.
4. If a team does not have 5 players on any given week, they may use a fill in from a
different team. This must be agreed upon by the opposing team.
. The game will count as a forfeit and may still be played.
Section 2 Team Equipment
1. Teams must wear the same color. This can be by shirt or uniform
2. Uniforms must have a number on them.
3. Players may not wear clothes that require a belt.
4. Flags must be worn on the side of the hips. Any other place may result in a penalty.
5. Gloves are permitted.
6. Waist towels must be in front or behind.
7. Wristbands are permitted
8. Necklaces are permitted.
9. Ear rings are permitted.
10. NO METAL CLEATS
Section 3 Game Format
1. Games will consist of two 30 minute halves with a 5 minute halftime.
2. Teams will get 10 minutes of warm up time per game.
3. The last two minutes of the game will be normal regulation stoppage.
4. If the score is tied, overtime will work on a sudden death basis.
5. A coin flip will be given with 3 minutes left on the warm up clock
6. When a touchdown is scored, 6 points are added to the score. If a team chooses a 1
point extra point it is automatically added to the score. If the team elects to go for two,
they will get one down on the 10 yard line.
7. When the game starts a kickoff will take place. The ball is down where the receiver
catches it.
8. A team may choose to punt on fourth down if desired.
9. The field will have first down lines on the 20, 40, and 20 yard lines. Each team has 4
downs to reach this point.
10. If a kickoff goes out of bounds on the sidelines, the ball will be placed halfway between
the goal line and the 20 yard line.
11. After a touchdown, a kickoff may occur.
a. Teams may choose to onside any time they want, but they must line up as if they are
onside kicking.
Section 4 Game Rules and Structure
1. Each team must have 1 QB 1 HB 3WR.
2. Each team may only handoff one time per set of 4 downs.
3. Quarterbacks may only run when rushed
a. A 5 Mississipi count must be given out loud for a defense to rush
4. Receivers must have both feet down on the sideline for it to count.
5. Only one flag must be pulled.
. Stiff arms are legal, however hand smacking near flag is a loss of downs penalty.
