Calgary Central Slo-pitch

League Specific Rules

1. All games are 7 innings or 1 hour 30 minute max. Games may not go into overtime. Team captains are to ensure games are finished on time.

2. There are to be no beverage containers on the field of play at any time.

3. No metal spikes are allowed.

4. No one may slide to any base feet first. That person will be called out regardless of the result of the play. No sliding into home plate or first base.

5. The coach or manager is responsible for their team’s actions and behaviour. Only team captains can ask for a review or clarification of a play call.

6. The coach or manager may eject any disruptive player. League management will review the circumstances and take further action if necessary.

7. Umpires are to be provided by the batting team providing they are familiar with all the rules of slo-pitch and our league. They are not to coach their teammates while umpiring.

8. The Umpire may call for a play review with the team managers of both teams if he/she chooses at any time.

9. All active players must be part of the permanent team roster and have signed the waiver to participate on the field of play. All players must be 16 years of age or older to sign the waiver if it is provided by league management

10.Alternate players may be used from the rosters of teams not currently playing. No more than 3 alternate players may be added to a team or the game becomes a forfeit loss.

11 .A minimum of 3 females must be in the line-up, if less than 3 females are playing, an automatic out must be placed in the batting order, and taken each time that spot is to bat.

12.There is absolutely no lead off from any base. The runner must wait until there is contact between the ball and bat. There is no “anticipation” and any lead off shall cause the runner to be called out.

13.There is to be no contact between the catcher and the runner. We have a commitment line 20’ from home plate. Should a runner cross the commitment line they must continue to the runners plate. Outs at home can be made by having control of the ball and contacting either the home plate or the strike mat.

14. No team can be ahead of the team they are competing against by more than 2 home runs.

15. Pitched balls must have an arc between 6-12’. If not the pitch will be declared a “no-pitch”, and must be called while in the air(by the umpire) before crossing plate. If a batter swings at a called “no-pitch”, this is considered a live ball on contact or if missed the batter must take the result of the swing.  If the batter chooses not to swing then the pitch is a “ball” regardless if the ball hits the strike mat.

16. Any team that forfeits 6 games or more during the season will be ineligible for playoffs.

17. Players on all teams must play a minimum of 10 regular season games to be eligible for playoff play.
