Blades Set to KickOff Fall 2006 Season

September 8, 2006
After a long summer vacation, the Blades set their sites now on the Fall 2006 season with heated enthusiasm. Game 1 has been scheduled for Sunday September 17th at 6:00 pm, but first have to sharpen their skates in preparation of their open skate/practice session scheduled for Sunday, September 10 @ 8:00 PM. Blades are still in search of their final full time skater but hope to fill in the abandoned roster spot with dependable subs like Jon Reid, Rick Stickles and/or Pat Doyle. One huge change in the roster this season is the full time addition of net-minder Jon Graney, who stepped in before when needed in previous seasons and is a welcome addition to the roster with the injury of Bob Taylor's shoulder during off-ice training over the summer. Also back for more Blades hockey this season is Matt Bacon, who is again a very dependable addition to the team last spring. Returning old timers are Chris Doggett and Derek Ezovski, as well as Tom Kelly, Rob Stickles, Dennis Connors and Jim Smith, who are part of the original Blades roster back in 1991. The Blades look forward to showing their experience this season, rather than their ages and pounds. Join me in wishing them "good luck" in the up-coming season! Full fall schedule is now posted.

BLADES WIN their 9th CHAMPIONSHIP!!!

June 7, 2007
Blades defeated the "other" Blades team 7-3 to take home their 9th championship in history. EH Blades skeptics give credit to the "new" white jerseys, however, the team says it was all teamwork in the final 4 games of the season to pull this one out.

"Congratulations you old geezers on winning the blind and crippled division, maybe next season you can beat the women's team or the under 10 year olds for the championship." - Will "Fastest Skater Alive" Harrison

EZO Wins his Third GBO Cup!

August 5, 2007 – 09:44 AM
The 2007 GBO was a huge success, especially for Derek Ezovski, who brought home his third overall cup in 7 years. This is the first year the tournament was scored on a Callaway scoring system, which brought everyone's scores into a very tight range of only 7.5 strokes. See below for final standings. Even though the heat and humidity prevented any beers from flowing on the course at Portland Country Club, this is only the 3rd GBO that there was no rain to stop the tournament short. Congrats and thanks to all who participated, making this the most successful turn-out yet. (Thanks to Mr. Doggett and "Uncle Paul", the Blades' #1 fan, for also playing.)
A special thanks goes out to Tom and Chris Kelly who graciously offered their home, pool, food, and overall great hospitality to the GBO hackers and families. You two helped cap off the night with a lot of laughs between family, friends, and the EH Blades, Connecticut's longest running (and "oldest") roller hockey team (est. 1991).

BLADES' WINTER SEASON STARTS OFF WITH WINS

December 30, 2007 – 02:55 PM
The EH Blades winter season has started on a positive note with 3 wins. The first place Blades defeated the StuGatz, IceCrabs, and team No Expectation. The Dead Goalies net-minder Bob Burbank has stepped in to help the Blades with Bob Taylor currently on a short-term L.O.A., and has stepped (even after a holiday party "festivities") to help the puck stay out of the net. All 8 full time skaters have contributed with their share of stats for the season. Jon Reid has stepped up with his lead leading 4 assists in 3 games. The Blades hope to continue this string and positive playing for the rest of the season, even after all of the holiday pounds have been added.
Blades' captain Dennis Connors had a severe injury to his foot in last season's playoff loss to the "other" Blades team. An MRI has showed a major tear in his right foot peroneal tendon, and will require surgery to repair. With the doc's approval, Connors is trying to wait until the end of this season before he goes under the knife, as long as the pain remains somewhat bearable.
Good luck to the EH Blades for the remaining 7 games of the season, with the next game scheduled for Tuesday, January 8 against a new team called "Sacred Heart".

SPRING SEASON REGISTRATION ends March 3

In order to get the early registration fee, please register and pay prior to March 3, 2008. Thanks.
