AWESOME YEAR

WELL OUR RUN COMES TO AN END WITH OUR LOST TO NORTHERN CUMBERLAND. IT WAS AN AWESOME YEAR WITH MANY GREAT MOMENTS. OUR STRENTH ALL YEAR WAS HITTING AND COMING BACK AT THE END OF GAMES. I KNOW WE DIDN'T HIT WELL IN THE FINAL GAME BUT IF YOU KNOW THE KIDS [MEN] THEY DID THEIR BEST. THE PLAYERS BESIDES BASEBALL HAD A LOT OF THINGS THAT THEY HAD TO JUGGLE TO MAKE GAMES AND PRACTICE, WORK, HIGH SCHOOL SUMMER LEAGUES, CHORES AROUND THE HOUSE IT'S A LITTLE DIFFERENT THEN WHEN THEY WERE IN GRADE SCHOOL AND PLAYING AS A 10 YEAR OLD AND SUCH. THEY'VE GROWN UP AND ABOUT TO GO INTO THE WORLD AND BE SUCCESSFULL IN WHAT EVER THEY DECIDE TO DO. I JUST HOPE WHAT THEY ACHIEVED WILL HELP THEM IN THE FUTURE TO HANDLE SOME OF THE PROBLEMS THEY WILL RUN INTO. THE GOAL OF EVERY COACH IS TO WIN BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY TO HELP THEIR PLAYERS TO OVERCOME DISAPPOINTMENTS AS WELL AS BEHAVING GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP. THANKS TO ALL THE FANS WHO CAME OUT TO SUPPORT US INCLUDING MY BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTER STEPHANIE YOU GUYS WERE AWESOME A HOUR AND A HALF RIDE AND YOU WERE ALL THERE LIKE YOU WERE GOING TO MT EPHRAIM TO WATCH A GAME. BEST OF LUCK TO EVERYONE.

NEW SEASON FOR 3 TIME DEFENDING DISTRICT 14 HAWKS

New Season starts April 11th home vs Glendora #2 2:00 start. This season is going to be very exciting. I believe we have a very good team from top to bottom. Pitching and defense as always is the key to all of my teams. If you play D and your pitchers throw strikes you win games. Hitting is something I do not work on a lot, it slows down practice and can be boring to the teamates in the field. I rather just work in small stations and hope that the parents get involved and help, like taking them to batting cages or working with them on the field. I can let you share my key to the gates or the cages. You the parents are my assistant coach's. I usually text the players about everything related to our team. If a parent wants to be on the list just ask me it will be done. Any questions feel free to call or text me. Yours truly, George Gies

Dr. James Andrews was on Sirius/XM radio’s “Power Alley” with Mike Ferrin and Jim Duquette yesterday, talking about Tommy John surgery. He was asked why there seem to be so many guys needing TJ surgery these days.

His answer: it’s not an anomaly, it’s a trend. And an alarming one, he says, in that so many more of the surgeries he’s performing are for high school pitchers as opposed to professionals with a few years under their belt. Kids are bigger and stronger these days, and their ability to throw harder is outpacing the development of their ulnar collateral ligaments.

But the biggest risk factor he and his researchers are seeing: year-round baseball. The fact that not only do pitchers throw year-round, but that they are pitching in competition year-round, and don’t have time to recover. Also: young players are playing in more than one league, where pitch count and innings rules aren’t coordinated. Another factor: the radar gun. Young pitchers who throw over 85 or so are at risk, and all of them who are on a major league track are throwing that fast or faster, and are going up in effort when scouts with guns are around.

Ultimately, you can’t prevent these injuries. Even for the major leaguers, most of whom were damaged in high school only to have the UCL injuries happen once they’ve hit the pros.

Give a listen to the TJ expert.
