Congratulations to the Fair Lawn Junior Cutters on their

2016 UNDEFEATED CHAMPIONSHIP RUN

The Fair Lawn Cutters headed to Cliffside Park HS this past weekend with one thing in mind, " A CHAMPIONSHIP".  The semi-final pairing pitted the undefeated Cutters against the Red Raiders of Cliffside.  Holding true to form our Cutters opened up with a win in the first bout and didn't look back the remainder of the way cruising to a 64-21 victory.

While Wayne defeated Emerson in the other semi-final matchup in convincing fashion it would take much more to knock off the Cutters.  Under the watchful eye of Coach Shane Delucca from the home stands the Cutters opened up a commanding lead early and then put away Wayne with our "murderers row" portion of the lineup (75-100).  With the match out of reach Wayne decided to bump their 136 lber away from Capt. AJ Puerto for a "certain" victory against Amir Michael.  Wayne did not want to see Fair Lawn put up 70 points on them in the Chamionship match and attempted to utilize match stategy right to the end.  This didn't work out so well for Wayne as Amir Michael would wrestle in the most exciting match of the day.  With the entire team rallying behind Amir to will him to an exhilarating OT victory over a seasoned wrestler.  Fair Lawn would later finish off Wayne to the tune of 60-27.

Come out this Saturday 3pm @ Cliffside Park HS, to support our Cutters in their quest for the inaugural Twin County Duals League Championship.

The 2015-2016 Jr Cutters remain unbeaten in dual matches going 9-0 in all and 8-0 in Twin County Dual League play.  As of the league postings on 2/8 the Cutters have obliterated the reaminder in the league in team points scored by way of 508 for vs. 203 against with 78 coming by way of forfiet points.  Only one other team in the leage (Wayne) has even scored 400 team points.

Fair Lawn has an average margin of victory of 38 points for each of its dual matches.  The team was led by Anthony Motta, Jacob Shapiro, Joe Fojon and AJ Puerto each earning 8 victories on the season.  Leading the way with pins were Jacob Shapiro and Anthony Motta with 5 a piece.

In all Fair Lawn wrestled in 147 individual matches winning 102 with a .694 winning percentage with nearly half of our victories coming by way of pin (49%).

Go Cutters Go!

Fair Lawn Junior Cutters take their 3rd title in as many years in their home gym.

Coming off a championship weekend in Montville last week the CUTTERS were riding high with emotion and left it all on the mats yesterday at the 13th Annual Jr. Cutter Classic Team Invitational.  In a tournament that hosted 38 state medalists from last year's USAWNJ State Championships this tournament has historically been billed one of the toughest team tournaments in Northern NJ and our Cutters didn't disappoint.

This year's Cutters came through with resounding resilience.  The team eventually ran away with the team title with 160 team points (118 for 2nd place Montville) but as many know the team title is not always won by the champions but rather the individual wins that we get in supporting roles.  This was no different this year.  Key advancement and bonus points scored by Eddie Guy, Tyler Tsai, Eric Checinski, Josh Wisse, Jake Sheiner, Chris Lydon and Ben Liss helped to further the lead our champions were posting.  Great job by all this weekend.

This year's Cutter Champions were:

80lb - Anthony Motta

100lb - Dylan Cedeno (first ever 4X Cutter Classic Champion from any town in tournaments history)

124lb - AJ Puerto

185lb - Jakob Shapiro

Medalists:

60lb - Eddie Guy 4th

70lb - Eric Checinski 2nd

85lb - Josh Wisse 3rd

147lb - Ben Liss 3rd
