The purpose of the Battlecreek Yankees is to promote the game of Baseball by providing an environment whereby young men who are interested in select Baseball can participate as teammates in leagues and tournaments composed of highly competitive select Baseball teams. To that end, coaches will be retained as independent contractors to teach and motivate players and to develop their individual and team skills to their potential.

1. All players, parents, and coaches are responsible for reading and abiding by these Policies and Procedures of the Battlecreek Yankees any association in which the Battlecreek Yankees (or any of its teams) registers and any leagues and tournaments in which the Battlecreek Yankees (or any of its teams) participates.

2. All players, fans, coaches, or others who participate in Battlecreek Yankees should conduct themselves in a manner that will not reflect negatively upon the team or its members. 4. During practices or games, a coach's first responsibility is to his players.

5. Derogatory comments to the coach or to umpires are strictly prohibited.

PLAYER SECTION  BC YANKEES – SPRING 2016

1.       PLEASE BE ON TIME -  IF YOU’RE GOING TO BE LATE OR UNABLE TO ATTEND PRACTICE OR A GAME PLEASE CALL OR NOTIFY 1 OF THE COACHES. TRY TO SHOW UP 10-15 MINUTES EARLY FOR PRACTICES AND 30-60 MINUTES EARLY FOR GAMES. WE WANT OUR TEAM TO START WARM-UPS TOGETHER AS A TEAM FOR PRACTICES AND GAMES.

2.       BE BASEBALL READY – PLEASE BE IN BASEBALL GEAR AND BE SURE TO HAVE YOUR BASEBALL EQUIPMENT NEEDED FOR ALL PRACTICES, ESPECIALLY FOR GAMES.

3.       WARM UP DRILLS – RATHER THAN JUST THROWING A BALL FOR WARM UPS WE’LL HAVE A SET AMOUNT OF THROWING AND FIELDING REPS TO DO PRIOR TO BEGINNING OUR FIELD ACTIVITIES. SHOULD ONLY AMOUNT TO THE FIRST 30 MINUTES OF OUR PRACTICE – IF WE START TOGETHER.

4.       DISRUPTING PRACTICE AND OR HORSE PLAY WILL NOT BE TOLERATED – YOU WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE THE GROUP FOR A CERTAIN TIME PERIOD TO GO RUN, BUT MAINLY TO KEEP AWAY FROM THE KIDS THAT ARE TRYING TO LEARN. PARENT’S PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THIS, IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ASK.

5.       NO ONE HAS A SET POSITION – COACHES WILL PLACE YOU WHERE YOU FIT BEST ON THE FIELD AND ON THE BATTING LINE-UP. GETTING BETTER IN PRACTICES ON WHAT YOU NEED WORK ON WILL CHANGE YOUR POSITIONING FROM GAME TO GAME.

6.       LAST BUT MOST IMPORTANT – WE NEED YOU TO FOLLOW YOUR COACHES INSTRUCTIONS DURING PRACTICES AND ESPECIALLY GAMES. YOUR PARENTS, FAMILY, AND FRIENDS WILL POSSIBLY HAVE SOME SOLID/BETTER ADVICE BUT IT COULD BE DIFFERENT FROM WHAT YOUR COACHES WANT IN CERTAIN SITUATIONS. IF WE’RE WRONG ON WHAT WE ASK OF YOU, THAT IS YOUR COACHES PROBLEM AND NOT THE PLAYERS FAULT. IF YOU DISREGARD YOUR COACH AND MAKE A MISTAKE BECAUSE OF SOMEONE ELSE’S ADVICE OTHER THAN YOUR COACH, THAT WILL BE YOUR FAULT AND SUBJECT TO LOSS OF PLAYING TIME. PLEASE TRUST YOUR COACHE’S

                                                    PARENT’S SECTION – BC YANKEES SPRING 2016

1.       PARENT’S YOU’RE IMPORTANT TO OUR SUCCESS. PLEASE HELP US TEACH YOUR CHILD BASEBALL BY BEING ON TIME AND HAVING THEM PREPARED WITH WHAT THEY NEED TO SUCCEED IN BASEBALL. ALSO,IT MAY BE HELPFUL TO HAVE A DISCUSSION WITH YOUR CHILD EXPLAINING THAT BASEBALL IS NO DIFFERENT THAN HAVING A CLASS IN SCHOOL. WE’RE HERE TO WIN BUT MOST OF ALL WE WANT TO TEACH AND HAVE OUR PLAYERS ADVANCE TO DIFFERENT LEVELS OF BASEBALL. THEY INTURN HAVE TO FOLLOW COACHING INSTRUCTIONS.

2.       BC OF COURSE ENCOURAGES CHEERINGFOR YOUR TEAM/CHILD AS LOUD AS YOU WANT. PLEASE KEEP FROM SINGLING OUT PLAYERS, COACHES, AND UMPIRES FOR THEIR/OUR MISTAKES. OUR TEAM ON THE FIELD IS NO DIFFERENT FROM OUR TEAM IN THE BLEACHERS.WE’RE ALL 1 ! ALSO PLEASE TRY TO KEEP YOURSELF FROM BLEACHER COACHING. ASKING THEM TO HUSTLE, GET DOWN ON A BALL, THROW HARDER IS OK. HOWEVER WHAT WE’RE REFFERING TO FOR EXAMPLE - PLEASE DON’T SEND OUT PICK OFF CALLS TO OUR PITCHERS, DON’T ASK A RUNNER TO GET A BIGGER LEAD, DON’T CALL FOR A SPECIFIC PITCH, LET YOUR CHILD FOCUS ON OUR COACHING INSTRUCTIONS IN ORDER TO KEEP THEM FROM GETTING CONFUSED ON WHO TO LISTEN TO. WE WANT OUR PLAYERS THINKING BUT NOT OVERLY THINKING.

3.       IF THE BATTLE CREEK YANKEES(OR ANY OF IT’S TEAMS) HOSTS A TOURNAMENT OR OTHER FUND RAISING ACTIVITY, EACH FAMILY IS EXPECTED TO PARTICIPATE IN SOME VOLUNTEER CAPACITY IF REQUESTED.
