Equipment Needed for Football

Here is a list of items that will be need throughout the season.
July 25th Practice Starts
The first week of practice we will be wearing Helmets only.
League Provided Equipment
Helmets
Mouthpiece- If your Dentist recommends a certain type it can not be white or clear. And it must connect to the facemask.
Parent Provided Equipment
Water!!!!!!! (Can't have enough)
Shorts
T-Shirt/ A Black Practice Jersey is nice for when we have scrimmages
Cleats/Tennis Shoes
You should be shopping for football pants, the sooner the better, as we get close to August the stores will be getting low.
Full Pad Start 2nd Week of Practice
League Provided Equipment
Helmets
Mouthpiece or one provided by you that meets conditions.
Game Jersey
Shoulder Pads
Parent Provided Equipment
Water!!!!!!! (Can't have enough)
Jersey- Old T-Shirt/Jersey During scrimmages (we will wear black). Returning players can wear their old game jerseys. Do not wear this year’s game jersey as a practice jersey. Players new to the team, the coaching staff may have some old black jerseys that can be used during the season.
Football pants/pads- Pants must be black for games. Pants must have kneepads x 2, thigh pads x 2, hip pads x 2, butt pad x 1. Your child can wear a girdle (type of shorts with pads in them), or pants that the pads snap into.
Athletic Supporter (Cup)
Cleats- Baseball cleats will work. Football cleats are preferred, as the weather changes to wet and muddy football cleats have a deeper tread.
Extra equipment your child may ask for.
Kids will try to ask for everything under the sun, as we all know. Your child will want what every College or Professional football player wears. Here is a list of some of those items. The football equipment you are borrowing from the N.W.F.L. is inspected at least twice yearly. It is also reconditioned by the manufacture when needed.
Facemask- If you take off the facemask you void the warranty of the helmet. Please don't remove the facemask. The League has spent $35,000 on new helmets for D-1 this year.
Helmet Visor- it must be clear, unless prescribed by a Doctor. The reason behind this is a smoked visor you are unable to see the child’s eyes or facial expressions if they are injured. Clear visors fog up and make vision worse during rain.
Chin strap- If you purchase any extra item, I would recommend this. Your issued chin strap is leather; a padded type neoprene will stay in place better and is more comfortable.
Rib pads/Vest- Can be worn for extra protection especially for players carrying the ball.
Arm Pads- Recommended for kids that are playing on the Defensive or Offensive line. If your child is complaining of arm pain or has a lot of bruises, these will make it easier on them.
Gloves- Most of the time they are worn for appearance. During cold weather or rain they may benefit. If your child’s performance is affected by this they will be asked not to wear them.
If your child is asking for any other item and you are wondering if it is truly needed, please see one of the Coaching Staff members.
The N.W.F.L. Officials are paying a lot of attention to mouthpieces this year. Due to recent findings that injuries to the jaw can cause concussions. If your child’s mouthpiece is deformed it will need to be replaced.
