For those of you who saw the news this week the AIA reversed its decision and will allow Winter Sports to compete. This all but gave us the answer that 2021 Spring Sports season will happen, minus spring and pre season tournaments. With the postponements that have already been put in place this puts our tryout date at March 1st.  That is an entire month later than originally scheduled.

With that said, I have met with the coaching staff to devise a plan about how to best move forward. Our intentions from Fall to Winter and Spring was to bulk up in the weight room and practice our skills once a week to prepare for a scrimmage that would follow. As you all know, a lot of schools were forced to cancel their scheduled games with us, plus our numbers have been low enough to prevent us from inter squad scrimmaging leaving us with a stand alone practice once a week. Also, for good reason, players have opted not to participate in the weight room.

Taking all of these things into consideration we have decided to take a brief pause in organized team activities. Then, beginning February 2nd we will begin our 2021 Pre Season Camp. This camp will be 3 days a week (Tuesday-Thursday) of concentrated on field training with the sole intention of getting our team ready for the spring season. Our intentions with this action is to allow families and players to plan schedules accordingly to maximize team participation. Having players from all levels at this camp is extremely important for team cohesion If you as a player or your son is planning playing for Kellis High School in the spring, it is vitally important they participate in the camp.

In the meantime, I encourage players that are willing to continue to participate in the weight room after school. Also, If players are looking to stay fresh before camp they are permitted to use our cages to hit and field to throw in small groups of 2-4. If players are looking to utilize our facilities in this fashion, under coach supervision, they will need to contact Coach Beltramo via remind app the day before to notify me of their intentions and the time they will arrive after 2:45.

I firmly believe this plan will put us in the best position to be successful this 2021 season.  I am excited for the progress we will make beginning February 2nd. Flyer and information will be available at the beginning of next week.
