Shemera Williams named PlayinTheDells.com Athlete of the Week

Milwaukee Academy of Science senior Shemera Williams has been selected as the PlayInTheDells.com Athlete of the Week for the week of February 11 through 17.
There was a total of 7,296 votes cast this week. Shemera finished first with 3,193 votes. Two Rivers' Joey Bianchi finished in an extremely close second with a total of 3,177 votes, only 16 votes behind Williams.
Shemera continued to climb the all-time scoring list last week as she led MAOS to three victories. She began by recording a triple-double in a 91-66 win over Racine Horlick. Shemera had 40 points, 15 rebounds, and 11 assists. She then had 28 points in a 77-62 win over Lourdes Academy. She ended the week by recording another triple-double in a 96-51 win over Greenfield. Shemera had 46 points, 14 rebounds, and 14 assists.
This past week Shemera passed former South Shore great Jolene Anderson for second all-time in state history in scoring. Coming into the playoffs, she has 2,972 points in her prolific prep career. Shemera, the top ranked player in the state of Wisconsin, will be heading to Marquette University to continue her basketball career.

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee Academy of Science superstar Shemera Williams has done it all. She's led the nation in scoring, committed to play at Marquette and will finish her career as the second leading scorer in Wisconsin history.
All that's left is a state title for Shemera and the Lady Novas.

The Lady Novas of the Milwaukee Academy of Science are headed back to the state tournament.
Students lined the halls of the K-12 school to send the girls basketball team to Green Bay in style
The Lady Novas made the state tournament two years ago in Division 5 but are making their first appearance in Division 4.
Last month, the star of the team, Shemera Williams, became the second athlete ever in Wisconsin high school basketball to score 3,000 career points.
The Lady Novas have a GoFund Me account set up to help pay for hotels.
