With Johnson pulling out ten minutes before this tee time, the Master pickers were mortified.  17 of 30 pickers had him for the top player and 27 of 30 had him on their team.  Sad day for the Master's Pool and a 1st ever.

Yes, he did it again.  The missed par putt by Jason Day snatched the win away from the crafty veteran, Mike Dollar.  This, some have said, is a tougher blow than Carson beating Maley last year with his Johnson!

Yes, Carson turned in the winning picks of Spieth, McIlroy & Johnson!  He narrowly beat off a hard charging Maley & Vandervest with his 3rd picked player.  Well done Carson. 

Filipowicz, Dollar, McNeal and Prince take rd 4 with a -11..... then our own Larry Fuss shatters the record team total, set in 2001 by Nic (our pal)umbo, whose record had beaten Larry's, with a -41.  Seems fitting doesn't it?

A stunning surprise to every Master's picker of the last 34 years, Palumbo actually won something.  His lack of any knowledge of the game itself may have helped propel him into the winners circle on this crazy day at the Masters.

Larry is in the winners circle, but, winning the green tie will be tough..... he has Johnson, Mickelson and then Spieth.

1st time pool picker Morrissey takes the 1st round lead due to Scotts bulky re-anchored putter on team De Young.... oh and P.S. Rickli is in last place after round 1. 

Tiger Woods was only chosen by two pickers this year and neither chose him to win.  In fact, one pick was only as his 'tie breaker.'   Going back to the last year Tiger played, he was on 30 picker's teams and 8 of those were to win!!!!  Shocking!

A record that stood since 1997 (33) was tied by another 33 dedicated pickers who came out to place their bets and  take a chance at their moment of history.  Popma was number 33 at 11:41 and was heard to say, "aw shucks, everyone played a part, however small it might have been."   Check the picture in the 'photo album' section

Walt Rickli pulls a win out of his a$$ in 2014.  Being one of only 5 pickers that had all three players make the cut, Walt could not be beaten.  His only competetion, Dave Johnsen, had Garcia (who missed the cut) as his 2nd pick.  It was pretty much over before it started. 

John Hutchinson, after a session of careful mentoring by his Big Dog, made a selection of picks that put him in the money in rd 3!

Yes, much to the dismay of the patrons, players and pickers, Walt Rickli wins round two.  The unlikely event occured largely due to the unexpected missed cuts by the likes of Mickelson, the Johnson, Sergio.... and the list goes on.

Yes, Kevin "Yuck" Cooney storms into the winner's circle for the 1st time since 2007's scab-ass 4th round.  Cooney's lack of knowledge, such as that his tie breaker Paddrick Harrington with drew from the tournament last week with an injury, did not keep him from winning the 1st round.

It looked like Harger had a lock on the Green Tie, but a Snedeker (who bears a striking resemblance to Kieth), fell and allowed Tiger to overtake him and consequently Vinny too!  

Sterling McNeil offered up his $10.00 earlier this month then... forgot to enter the pool.  The stunned Pool Founder and Director, Jim DeYoung, was heard to say, "that was the most sportsman like conduct since Jack Nicklaus gave Tony Jacklin a 3 ft putt to tie in the Ryder Cup!"

Totally unexpected and flabbergasted was Maley when telephoned by Masters Chairman DeYoung.  Scott was less impressed having Donned the Tie in recent years.

"Yes dear"  Harger is on a roll....  out of nowhere Keith has cashed in two days in a row and already planning on what to wear when he dons the Green Tie on Monday!

Harger takes round two and says he owes it all to "Jim's Tips... the men who can win at Augusta."  Keith has asked that we don't mention anything to his wife about him winning any money.....  Chris Denick was well on his way to topping is brother (and rival) Don's winnings of the 2005 rd 2 & 3 until Dustin Johnsons major colapse in rd 2.

Mike DeWitt, best known as the "bigger loser" in Masters Pool history (27 years) narrowly misses out on the Green Tie with a 3rd place pick of Stricker, over Frank (and the horse he) Rodin on's pick of Woods.
Although Mike is happy with making his 1st cash ever in rd one, was the favorite among the picking patrons. No disrespect to Frank, it's just that we don't really like Frank at all.

Two time Masters Picker Patron, Chris Denick and Hall of Famer Matt Scott take the opening round with an 8 under total.  I'm sure we are all very happy about that!

At the Past Champions diner on Friday night, De Young clearly was overheard to say, "Frank 'and the horse he' Rodin on will win this year’s Green Tie for sure!” Walt Rickli had this to say, “With all of Jim's experience, who can doubt it when he speaks of the Masters?” His comments seemed premature, but, like fellow Hall of Famer Mike DeWitt said, "hey, he just came back from there.... he has a spiritual feeling about him."

I guess the term "Dumb luck" finally has some meaning to me. Fellow 'Hall of Famer' Rich Hollman remarked, "are you kidding?? If you took everything Tony knows about the Masters, rolled it into a ball and put it on the edge of a razor blade, it would look like a bee-bee rolling down a four-lane highway!!!!"

Fuss & Foune are back in the winners circle after a bit of scoreless and money-less years. Compared to DeWitt, they would be declared champions with their meager efforts! Congrats!

Long time loser, Mike DeWitt, best known as the worst picker in picking history, tied two other scabasses in round one of 2012. His winnings of $8.33 is being reviewed by the Master Picking Pool as qualifying for actually winnings. More as this story develops.
