ROY HOBBS NORTHWEST OHIO BASEBALL LEAGUE

 

MANAGERS MEETING MINUTES

 

March 26 2017

 

 

 

In attendance were:

 

Troy McDaniel, President of the league, and led the meeting.

 

Josh Ball from the Hitmen

 

KC Dipman from the Expos

 

Abe Huffman from the Tide

 

Greg Szczublewski from Perrysburg

 

Troy McDaniel from SkyHawks

 

 

 

2017 Season Teams and Schedule:

 

The 2017 RHNWOBL season will now consist of 7 teams. The Ducks have folded and the Bier Stube Black Sox and The Bombers and combined teams and are now the BlackSox Bombers.

 

Unanimous vote that we will be playing a nine inning game on Father’s day June 18th. The Aces WILL have a bye that day.

 

All Star Game has to be rescheduled due to The Ned now not being available.  Another date or possible field relocation is being looked into.

 

 

 

Teams that have secured fields:

 

Hitmen: Bedford but cannot use field until beginning of July.

 

Expos: St. John’s

 

Tide: Summerfield

 

Perrysburg: Perrysburg

 

SkyHawks: Genoa

 

Aces and Black Sox Bombers: Undecided at this time.

 

 

 

All 7 teams will make the playoffs for a double round elimination. Playoffs will start September 24th.

 

ALL TEAMS ARE RESPOSIBLE FOR GETTING THEIR OWN BASEBALLS

II. Equipment and Uniforms

F. All teams will be required to use the same brand of baseball throughout the season.

 

    The 2017 season all teams must use the DIAMOND D1 PRO NFHS baseball.

 

 

 

III. Substitution Rules

E1. The pitcher may have a courtesy runner at any time during the game. 

 

 

 

VII Completed Games:

 

The rule stands as:

 

A. Any 9 inning regular season game can be called after 7 innings if a team is ahead by 10

 

    or more runs but can be played to its entirety no matter what the score is as long as agreed

 

    upon by both managers and umpires are notified prior to the start of the game.

 


B. Any 7 inning regular season game can be called after 5 innings if a team is ahead by 10

 

      or more runs but can be played to its entirety no matter what the score is as long as agreed

 

      upon by both managers and umpires are notified prior to the start of the game.

 

      THE RUN RULE WILL BE IN EFFECT FOR THE FIRST GAME OF A DOUBLE HEADER.

 

 

 

League Fees:

 

League fees of $340.00 per team are due May 21 2017.

Roy Hobbs Northwest Ohio Baseball League held their preseason managers meeting at the Bier Stube to discuss the upcoming 2017 season. Noted below are the meeting minutes of the discussion that took place.

The 2017 Season will consist of 9 teams divided into two divisions as follows:

 


 

Red Division                                          Blue Division

 


 

Aces                                                        New Team

 


 

Bier Stube                                               Ducks

 


 

Bombers                                                  Expos

 


 

SkyHawks                                               HitMen

 


 

                                                                Tide

 


 

Season

 


 

  • Starts June 4th,

  • All games start at 11:00am

  • Same div. 9 inning.

 


 

  • Cross div. DH

  • Red Division teams will have one bye for the season as blue will have two.

  • Do not play: July 2nd, September 3rd.

 


 

  • Table vote on playing  June 18th Fathers Day

    If we play on Fathers day all games to be scheduled for 9 innings.

 


 

  • All Star Game August 5th.

 


 

  • Red Division send 4 players each. Blue division 3 players each.

  • All games resume August 6th.

 


 

  • Playoffs: Will start September 24th if Father’s day is played or October 1st 

                    if Father’s day is not played.

 


 

  • All 9 teams make playoffs or 8th and 9th seed play a wild card game to determine an 8 seeded playoff tournament. Discussion/vote tabled until next meeting.

     

    Seeding

 


 

  • Teams are split into two different divisions for scheduling and All Star Game purposes only.

  • At the end of the season seeding will be determined as follows:

 


 

  • Win vs Loss record.

  • Most Runs For

  • Least Runs Against

     

     

    League Rules

 


 

  • The league rules were looked over and any questions were explained. A copy of  the  2015 revised addition is attached.

  • Discussion about Section VII. COMPLETED GAMES

 


 

  • The mercy rule IS in effect unless both managers agree, prior to the start of a game, that the game is going to go its full innings. Managers must notify the umpires they plan to play the game in its entirety before the start of a game including before the start of the first 7 inning game in a double header.

                        THE ONLY EXCEPTION IS: The mercy rule WILL BE IN

                        EFFECT in the first game of a 7 inning double header.

     

    Baseballs

 


 

  • Ordering

 


 

  • Discussion on baseballs if the league should order as a whole or each individual team order their own baseballs. Consensus was for each team to order their own baseballs.

 


 

  • Type of baseball

 


 

  • Discussion on type of baseball and consensus was “Diamond D1 Pro NFHS”.

  • Discussion that all teams order the same exact baseballs and that “Type” of baseball should be put into Rule Book for exclusive use only. Further discussion/vote on type and league rule tabled until next meeting.

     

    Fees

 


 

  • Roy Hobbs fee: $340.00 (Extra $75.00 if name of field/ school on ins.)

  • Baseballs: about $80.00 dozen (4 to 5 Dozen) (D1 Pro NFHS)

  • Umpire fees: $100.00 DH, $65.00 per 9 inning.

 


 

  • Each team responsible for paying ONE of the two umpires.

 


 

  • Field Fees: Up to school

  • Roy Hobbs Fees of $340.00 due by: May 28 2017

     

     

     

    Team and player registration:

 


 

  • Each team has to register with Roy Hobbs under our league.

  • Each team member has to register with Roy Hobbs otherwise not covered under insurance policy.

Fields

 


 

  • Find a field and secure it. Give school every Sunday date for the entire season and let them tell you what days CAN NOT be used.

  • Secure fields and dates by May 14th so I can have a hard schedule by May 21st to hand out. Copy of last season’s insurance attached to show AD if needed.
