The unlikely duo of senior Rizzo's pulled off an unbelievable finish by beating the young Rizzos (who were a shoe in with an 8-1/2 point lead) by 1/2 a point.  More astonishing was that Paul (known as Hack) hit a 5 wood into number 18 and made the 8 foot putt to pull off the win.  How thrilling! 

The duo of Mike Bronkema and Chad Newcomb shattered the old record of 46 net with their own 49!  Mike blames himself of the fiasco.... and so does Chad! 

On their way to the highest scramblemania total ever, Mike Bronkema and Chad Newcomb dropped a bomb for their 15th stroke on the Worst Ball scramble hole, number 18.  Once again, Mike blames himself and Chad agrees! 

A close finish, with 4 teams recording a 35 net.  Knecht and Simmon were thought to be winners and money was paid out, however, they forgot that no strokes are given on the "worst ball" 18th hole.  They went from no money 4th place to 1st.  Well, a card laid is a card played.  

This gift was offered up by many teams who laid down for them and a late season rainout which made the 2nd place Rizzo teams task much more difficult, although they would have blown it anyway!

 

Yes, it's the 1st ever albatross on any hole at Doster since the Brass Connection league began in 1994 and the Parker league prior.  Brandon hit a driver, then an 8 iron into the hole. His astonished partner and competitors searched for his ball until someone pulled the flag from the hole and the ball came out.  This may be an infraction, so I am checking the rules of golf to clarify. 

Keith Harger (you know, the guy whose mail box says Mrs. and Mr. Heather Harger), drove the number one green at Doster 6/14/16. He 2 putted for birdie, which over half the field made that night.  Keith is the 1st ever to drive the green!

They did what most said, could never be done.  No one could possibly beat an 18 in the SK&T, but, the duo of Krug & Hiatt did it anyway.  They shot an unbelievable 17.  Opponents said that the team tossed and kicked within inches each time. 

A poor season, by these experienced players, but a strong finish vaulted the duo into 1st place for the 9th time since 1994.  The excitement overwhelmed this years participants. 

Keith and Brandon did what has only been done once before and only beaten once. They parred the treacherous #18 hole in the SK&T 'worst ball' scramble.  Only Hollman & DeYoung equalled this feat in 2001 and only (and never again) Palechka & Gregory had made a birdie!  Incidentally, had Harger's ball not hit the hole (doing around 35MPH) they'd have made a seven instead!

Rich "Hoopie" Hollman holes out a rescue club on the difficult #2 hole at Doster.  The ball went into the hole on the fly. No one actually saw it go in but some damage around the cup was evidence of where the ball was.

John Hutchinson shot his all time lowest score, at 38, after making 4 birdies in nine holes.  Hutch, now a 9 handicap, is certain to be in the mix for the season end 1st place trophy!!! 

Their 2013 League win this year gave them the trifecta of Brass Connection folklore, kinda.  Their claim to a 2007 Scramblemania win is largely contested due to their tie that year with two other teams and they decided not to have a play-off to declare an actual winner.  I guess it will be for history to decide....

Right of the heels of record shattering 32, the next week was 'back to reality' for the young Rizzo.  Luke shot a 46 on a night that the patrons described as absolutely perfect scoring conditions..... why it was even a little better conditions than last week!  Luke did not stay around long enough for comment with this reporter.

Luke Rizzo shoots an unbelievable 32 in conditions that yielded 4 sub-40 rounds. I really doubt that this feat will ever be broken!! We're all so proud of Luke that we can hardly stand him.......

Bol & Dosilager used their string, kicks and tosses to absolute perfection scoring an 18 for 9 nine holes. Had there been no witnesses, this heroic effort could have been contested... nice going boys!

Luke broke the long standing record held by your humble narrator (2.88) with a whopping 1.75 for the entire year. That's not throwing anything out folks!!

Yes, it was the Rizzo Twins vs the Popma's. Both teams were near the top of the leader board on position night. Tied for the night, a playoff of sorts ensued. The Twins leap frogged two teams to take their 3rd (and last) league win.

Only 13 players whipped the living hell out of Luke on 8-1-11. In fact Tate (11 handicap) beat him by a whooping 8 strokes!!!! Anyway, what people have suspected right along just may be true...... those low rounds that Luke posted earlier were the flukes. Welcome Luke back to his real world.

Rich (Hoopie) Hollman stood a mear 115 yds to the pin on #10. With the wind at his back, he choose a 4 iron (I'm pretty sure) and hit a career shot the cleared the bunker by inches and went into the hole. None of us saw it go in, so the fan fare was rather subdued.

Yes, it finally came true. Luke Rizzo make his 1st hole in one...and there were even witness's, who claim not to have been paid off, who attested the feat. Luke beat out De Young by 3-1/2 ft and claimed the unlikely hole in one. Congrats to Luke and his accomplishment!

Yes another long standing record has been broken. Luke had three witness's this time, so it's hard to really surmise that he cheated and of course, no one is suggesting that at this point. Luke carded a 33, breaking the old record of 35 by four others and DeYoung's 36 in gale force conditions. Congrats Luke!!

Yes, we are told (by the guy who says he did it) that Luke Rizzo had his 2nd hole in no. This reporter tried to get the whole story (without it taking an hour or more from Luke himself), but, hmmm..... there were no witnesses again! What are the odds? (not for the hole in no, but that there are no witnesses again) ??????

Yes, April 18th 2011 will go down in imfamy as the only time that play was cancelled due to snow. League member Keith Harger was heard to say, “aw shucks!” More as this story develops.

Yes it was Poppa Popma and son of Pop&Ma that scabbed out the SK&T this year against the weakest field in SK&T history. Congrats.

Not a lot is known about this story at the time of this reporter's writing, however, speculation of foul play (he has a lot of enemies, so there are up to as many as 421 suspects so far) or just plain old fashion drunkeness, are circulating the rumour mill. Ironically, in his player bio, his favorite food was spare ribs! More as this story develops.

Dateline Doster..... July 26th 2010 Paul Rizzo fires a 40 and knocks the 1st place team... uh... well, can't remember who those guys were, off the top wrung. Said Paul after his round, "ya' know, I was really stroking it out there today. I can't tell you how many times I was stiff..... and that ain't happened in a while. I just hope I don't pull a boner next week."

After a flip over on his riding mower, Bob found himself with a broken leg and out for the season, although, he is hopeful that he can make a triumphant return at the SK&T.... we'll see.

Mike Popma hit his 5th shot out of the woods on #5. The ball came out, but his sand wedge didn't. His loose grip allowed the club to sail deep into the woods. After an exhaustive 5 minute search by all, it was declared lost. Mike thinks it may have been an alien abduction.

Yes, he finally did it! Witness's include....well.....I guess there were none, just Luke Rizzo. News Flash! This just in, Paul Rizzo had 11 holes in one this week. Wow, what a family!
Me personally, I've had 13, but unfortunately no one was ever with me. So when people ask how many I've had.... I do the right thing and say that I haven't had one yet!

A league that prides itself on the fewest rainouts since 1994 finds themselves sitting at the bar waiting for a clearing that never came. Long time member Paul Rizzo was heard to say, "I could hardly even run my mouth out there! The rain was coming down sideways and I felt like I was being water-boarded."
