Boys basketball: B-CC boys join top 10, but fall to WJ
Poor second quarter helps Wildcats rally to beat tenth-ranked team

Senior forward Ryan Lynch grabbed a missed shot and laid it in at the buzzer to give Walter Johnson High School’s boys basketball team a 52-50 upset of tenth-ranked Bethesda-Chevy Chase Tuesday.
The Barons (7-4, 2-2 in Montgomery 4A South Division) have won four games this year where they trailed in the fourth quarter. This time, however, they entered the final period with a 39-37 lead.
B-CC’s Ghedalia Gold-Pastor led all scorers with 24 points. Halid Hamadi scored 13, Everett Wells had 11 and Lynch finished with 10 for the Wildcats (5-5, 2-2). The Gazette’s top 10 rankings included B-CC for the first time this year on Tuesday.
What really hurt the Barons was being outscored 13-4 in the second quarter after taking command of the game with a 20-11 edge in the first period.
