Rules and Regulations

Teams – Only players on a team roster will be eligible to play. Any players found not to be on a team roster, will result in a forfeit for all games that player played in. Each team is allowed 17 players + 1 goalie on the roster. The Hockey Department has the right to refuse a player a roster spot based on skill level of the league.
Playoff Eligibility - 40% of teams scheduled games
(o35 / o45 - only) Only players selected in the draft will be able to play. No outside substitutions will be allowed.
***(all leagues) Replacement players will be allowed for Injuries or if a player has not paid their registration fee. The player must be approved by the WRSC Hockey Department.
Fees – Varies by amount of games in a season
Players – All players must sign in before each game at the Table prior to going to the locker room. Players must have matching colored jerseys. Teams should be prepared to wear White or Dark jerseys.
Referees / Scorekeepers – Each team is responsible for paying the referee $50 per game per team and the scorekeeper $10 per game per team. Referees & Scorekeepers are to be paid BEFORE the game and are instructed not to start a game until they are paid. WRSC will not tolerate Referee abuse. Any player who verbally or physically abuses a referee will be ejected and possibly suspended pending Hockey Director review.
Games – All Games/Leagues will be 3 15-minute periods. Overtime - If a game ends in a tie after regulation, there will be a 3-minute (stopped time) overtime (3v3). If it’s still tied after overtime, there will be a 3-man shootout until a winner is decided. ***Playoff overtimes will be 3v3 until a goal is scored.
Standings – Two points awarded for a win, one point awarded for an OT or SO Loss.
Tie – Breakers –
1) Points, 2) Wins, 3) Head-to-head, 4) Goal Differential, 5) Goals For, 6) Goals Against, 7) Fewer Penalty Minutes, 8) Coin Toss
***Tie-breaker format under the "standings page" does not reflect the"head to head" season results", therefore, in the evdnt of a tie, it could effect end of season standings. Official tie breakers are above****
Penalties– ***There will be NO FIGHTING tolerated during the season. Referees will be instructed that any punch that is thrown by a player will be an instant ejection from that game. A suspension could result based on the decisions made by the Referee and Hockey Director.
***This is a NON-CHECKING league. Any checking/hitting will result in a minor (or major) penalty. If a referee determines there was a check/hit with “intent to injure”, it will result in an immediate ejection from that game.
***Four penalties, of any sort, will result in a game ejection.
Rule Changes – All 2020 NIHOA Hockey Rules will be followed including the rules listed below:
n In the event of a penalty, the faceoff will now take place in the defensive end of the team penalized.
n Faceoffs will only take place on one of the nine specified faceoff circles.
n For all Hand passes and high stick infractions, a faceoff will result in the defensive zone of the team who caused the infraction
n A shot that goes off the cross bar out of play will result in the faceoff staying inside the offensive zone (unless it goes off the goaltender first).
Equipment – Proper equipment is recommended, but not required except for the following:
n Helmets – Every players MUST wear a helmet (shield or cage NOT required, but it is preferred, and you play at your own risk). All helmets must have a proper chinstrap and it must be fastened. Referees will be instructed that after an initial warning, a player will be subject to a 10 minute misconduct penalty for a second incident.
