Griffle Grounds

First Official Game: June 6, 2010 - Thunder vs GasHouse Gorillas

The Griffle Grounds at Sheppard Park in Highland, IN was established in the summer of 2010 by Jeremy Ratajczyk and Kyle Lidster. Sheppard Park was dedicated to fallen Officer Donald R. Sheppard in 1971. The Griffle Grounds has a concrete playing surface that is surrounded by grass. The field is lit by four light posts at night that can keep games going until after 10:00 p.m., creating a professional-like atmosphere. The dimensions of the field are 60 feet down the foul lines and 80 feet to straightaway center field. The distance from the pitcher's mound to home plate is 40 feet. The field offers picnic table seating/dugouts down each foul line. The main attraction for fans is the playground located right next to the field. Concessions are offered at the nearby girls softball field. Admission to the Griffle Grounds is free and alcohol is prohibited.
