On July 16, 1964, Little League Baseball was granted a Congressional Charter of Federal Incorporation. Cranston National Little League was actually established several years prior to that date. Approximately 30 years ago, Tom and Kathy Fitz-Simon established the Budlong Baseball Instructional League. In 1997, both leagues merged, creating the current league name, Cranston National Budlong Little League (CNBLL). A trophy in the name of Kathy Fitz-Simon is presented each year to the girl who exhibits outstanding sportsmanship. In 1998, Garden City Field was renamed Fitz-Simon Field. In the 2000 season, a girls fast pitch division was added to the league, giving the children of our community an even greater opportunity to play and learn. CNBLL would like to thank all the dedicated volunteers for their contributions to the league. They are the reason the league successfully continues today.
