Head Coach - Garrett Mackenzie
Head Coach and Chartiers Valley alumnus Garrett MacKenzie had a successful soccer career at CV.
He was named to the All-Section and All-WPIAL teams his junior and senior year. He and his teammates won the WPIAL championship in 2001, and played in the state championship in 2002. Coach MacKenzie competed with the Beadling Soccer Club, winning seven State Championships, and winning the Regional Championship in 2000. He was selected to be a member of the Olympic Development Program team in 2001.
After graduating Chartiers Valley in 2002, MacKenzie played soccer at Duquesne University where his team won three regular season Atlantic 10 Championships. While at Duquesne, his team was nationally ranked for three of the four years he competed. He was a member of the Dean’s List, and earned the A-10 commissioner’s Honor Roll, and Director of Athletics Honor Roll.
Upon graduating from Duquesne, he became the assistant varsity coach at South Fayette in 2007. He helped coach South Fayette to a runner up finish in the WPIAL Tournament in 2013, and also led the Junior Varsity Team to three consecutive undefeated seasons.
Coach MacKenzie served as the Director of Player Development for the Bridgeville Football Club from 2008-2013. MacKenzie has a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Sports Marketing from Duquesne University. Coach MacKenzie also has an Elementary Education Professional Teaching Certificate from the University of Pittsburgh, and is currently working at Chartiers Valley Intermediate School as an Instructional Aide/Co-teacher
Assistant Coach - Travis Mackenzie
Assistant Coach and Chartiers Valley Alumni Travis MacKenzie played soccer for the Beadling Soccer Club for 8 years and won the State Cup Championship 6 times. During his high school career Travis was part of the 2001 WPIAL Championship team. While at CV he was a 3 time All-State selection, 2 time Regional All-American, and was named to the National All-American team his senior season. He graduated from Chartiers Valley in 2004.
Travis went on to play at Duquesne University. He was named 3 times to the NSCAA Mid-Atlantic All-Region Team. He was also named to the Herman Trophy watch list in 2007.
He played two seasons professionally for the Pittsburgh Riverhounds. He also played 3 seasons professionally for the Milwaukee Wave of the MISL. While in Milwaukee he won the MISL championship in 2011.
Travis was an assistant coach at South Fayette High School for 5 years. He helped train the JV team as well as the varsity team. He also helps coach with the Beadling Juniors. Travis is married to his lovely wife Kristin and has two children: Arleigh (age 5) and Adelina (2 years)
Assistant Coach - Derek Mackenzie
Assistant Coach Derek MacKenzie is a Chartiers Valley alumni. Derek graduated from Chartiers Valley in 2000. During his soccer career at CV Derek was an All-American his senior year, two time All-State, three time all WPIAL section four year starter and letterman.
He went on to attend and play soccer for Duquesne University. He played mid-field for the Dukes and was A-10 All Rookie Team.
