Varsity Coaching Staff

 


Head Coach
Kevin Patrick
1995 graduate of Clovis High School.  3-year letter winner in football and baseball.  Member of 1995 Valley Championship baseball team, coached by father James.  Played 2 years for Ron Scott at Fresno City College.  Was a member of the 1996 Final Four team and an All Conference shortstop in 1997.    Played 2 years at Cal. State Northridge, for current Fresno State coach, Mike Batesole.  Also served as an assistant for Coach Batesole in 2000.  Earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology in 2000.  Served as an assistant coach at Clovis High in 2001 and 2002, which were both Valley Championship seasons.  Earned a Master’s Degree in Kinesiology from Fresno State in 2002.
 
Coach Patrick was the head coach at Reedley High School from 2003-2006.  Reedley won playoff games every year and had the #1 seed in the playoffs during the 2005 season.  Coach Patrick then accepted the job at Madera High School in 2007.  The Coyotes, coming off a last place TRAC finish in 2006, won a TRAC Co-Championship in 2007.  Coach Patrick was named TRAC Coach of the Year in 2007. 

Coach Patrick Joined the Golden Eagle family in 2008.   In his first year leading the Eagles, the team advanced to the semi-finals of the Valley playoffs.  During his second season, the team advanced to the Valley Championship game.  In 2010, Clovis West captured the TRAC Championship, while advancing to the Valley Championship game. Coach Patrick was named TRAC Coach of the Year in 2010.  The Golden Eagles also captured the TRAC Championship in 2012 and Coach Patrick was once again named TRAC Coach of the Year.  In his 9 years at Clovis West, the Golden Eagles have a record of 213-99-1.  His overall coaching record for the past 14 years is 295-169-1.
 
Coach Patrick and his wife, Jennifer, have a son Tyler (12) and a daughter Allie (9).
 
Assistant Coach
Seth Moranda

Coach Moranda is a 2011 graduate of Buchanan High School and was a 2-sport letter winner: lettering in 3 years in football and 4 in baseball. His complete game helped Buchanan to a 2010 Central Section Championship and he also played a major part in Buchanan's ESPN Fab50 National Championship run as well. He also played shortstop when not pitching.

Moranda hit a team-high seven home runs during his senior season and posted a 12-1 record on the mound with a 1.18 ERA. He struck out 91 batters in 83.1 innings pitched as he was an All-State selection. He accumulated 33 wins on the mound throughout his varsity career.

Moranda was drafted in the 11th round by the Atlanta Braves in 2011 and spent 4 years in their organization.

Coach Moranda is in his third year with the Clovis West varsity baseball coaching staff.

Assistant Coach
Nick Caraccilo

Nick Caraccilo is in his third year with the Golden Eagles. He will assist with the hitters and catchers.


Coach Caraccilo played 4 years of varsity baseball at Madera High School. He was the starting catcher on 2007 TRAC championship team. Nick then went on to play at CSU Stanislaus.

After his playing days concluded he spent 2 years coaching travel teams as well as giving private lessons at a baseball academy in Modesto.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Assistant Coach
Chad Rolen 

Coach Rolen is a 2001 graduate of Buchanan High School. Was a member of Buchanan’s first TRAC Championship and Valley Runner-Up team in 2001. Played 2 years at Reedley College where he was named Freshman of the year in 2002 and Defensive POY in 2003. Rolen then transferred to Stanislaus State University where he played Centerfield in 2004 and 2005. Served as an Assistant Coach for Stanislaus State in 2006, working with outfielders.

 

In 2007, Coach Rolen moved back to the area and began coaching at Clovis East High School. After serving as an Assistant Coach for 7 years, Rolen was named Clovis East’s Interim Head Coach in 2014. Coach Rolen remained at Clovis East the following year (2015) as an Assistant Coach. In 2016, Rolen coached the Lenoir City Panthers in Lenoir City, Tennessee.

 

Coach Rolen and his wife, Kaitlin, have a son named Bo (1).

Head Coach
Justin Rodriguez

Justin Rodriguez returns for his 9th year in the CW baseball program. During that time, Justin has been a varsity assistant and head coach at both frosh and JV levels.

Justin, who graduated from Reedley High School in 2003, played for Coach Patrick in his first year as a head coach.

Justin was a 4 year varsity letter winner for the Pirates and an all league shortstop, who went on to play at Reedley College.

Justin serves as a special education aide at Clovis West

 


Assistant Coach
Jake East
Jake East is a 2010 graduate out of Buchanan High School.  He was a member of the Baseball team that won the Valley Championship in 2010.  Was a 2-year letter winner in football and baseball.

 

Jake is a teacher at Clovis West who also coaches varsity football in the fall.

Head Coach
Scott Isaak
Scott Isaak is a 2007 graduate out of Buchanan High School.  He was a member of the Baseball team that won the Valley Championship in 2006.  Was a 2-year letter winner in football and baseball.  As First Baseman, he was Buchanan’s Defensive player of the year in 2007 and selected as TRAC All-League and All City/County.  Scott went onto play for West Valley Junior College in the Bay Area—a team that went to the final 4 in state.  He came back to the Central Valley to play for Reedley College and was awarded Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year and team MVP Award in 2010.  Was selected to the All Central Valley Conference teams as a First Baseman and Gold Glove winner in 2010.  Earned a scholarship to Western Oregon University.

 

Scott’s coaching experience started at Saint Anthony’s Cathedral as he was an Assistant Coach for the 8th grade team.  Then, he moved to Kastner last year where he helped coach an undefeated baseball team.  In the Fall, he also joined the football program and coached Kastner’s 8th grade and Clovis West’s JV and Varsity teams.

Tanner Truhett
Tanner Truhett was a 2011 graduate out of Buchanan High School. He was a 2-year letter winner as a pitcher during the 2013 and 2014 seasons. 
 
This is Tanner's 3rd season as a member in the Clovis West baseball program.
