Purpose:

Long Beach GOLD uses basketball as a vehicle to mentor student athletes.

Synopsis:

Long Beach GOLD (formerly Long Beach Basketball) was formed in 2003 in order to use basketball as a vehicle to mentor and prepare student athletes for the colligate experience. We believe, like gold, each student athlete is inherently valuable. Yet, when gold is refined, its true worth is made evident, and it can be used to adorn items that are treasured and displayed for all to see. Similarly, our student athletes have inherent worth,which is refined and enhanced as they go through the process of learning the fundaments of basketball, experience the dynamics of becoming a team, and embrace the core principles of Life, Family, and Community.
