 Sara Dukes Johnson

 VARSITY HEAD COACH AND PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Sara joined the Monte Vista program in 2016 and coached the varsity team to its third consecutive EBAL and NCS Championships. Prior to Monte Vista, she most recently coached Beach Volleyball at Stanford where she acted as an assistant coach since 2013.

Sara played indoor volleyball for Stanford from 2000-03. She was a member of the 2001 national championship team as a sophomore and appeared in the finals again as a junior.  Sara played high school locally at Carondelet and was the Contra Costa Times Player of the Year in 1998 and 1999 was the 1999 NCS Player of the Year and received several All-American honors.  

After graduating with a bachelor's degree in communications and a minor in sociology, she went on to play beach volleyball professionally, competing on the AVP tour from 2006-10. 

Sara has coached the Monte Vista squad to NCS Championships in 2016, 2017 and 2021.

Caroline McConnell

VARSITY ASSISTANT COACH

Caroline is a Monte Vista Volleyball Alumni who has coached women's volleyball for over 10 years.  She was a middle blocker throughout her high school and college career.  Prior to Monte Vista she was the Freshman and Varsity Assistant Coach at The Athenian School.  Caroline is a USAV Impact and USAV CAP I certified volleyball coach.  Caroline also coaches clinics, camps and club volleyball year round for VB Vibe Volleyball Club.  She has a strong passion for the game and loves being able to coach and mentor young athletes.  She works in the fitness industry, and enjoys sharing her knowledge to help further develop student athletes.

Jamie Hadenfeldt

JUNIOR VARSITY COACH

Jamie joined the Monte Vista volleyball program in 2020 and brings a tremendous amount of playing and coaching knowledge and experience, at the club, high school and collegiate levels. She is also currently a coach and the Assistant Club Director at NorCal Volleyball Club.

Darren Hill

FRESHMEN COACH

Darren is the veteran of the Monte Vista High School Volleyball program, having coached JV and Freshmen teams for over 15 years. His teams are always the most successful in the league and seldom suffer more than a few losses during the entire season.
