Coach Basilone has a Bachelor of Science Degree from Edinboro University, and a Masters in Education from Clarion University. He has been an educator in the public school system for 30 years.  Basilone has been coaching baseball for the past 36 years. Several of those years were Head Coaching positions. His teams have won 4 state championships. Three of those teams have gone to the Regionals of the World Series. One of those teams have played in the Don Mattingly World Series.  In 2002 and 2003 the Independent Players Team won the Connie Mack State Championship and played in the Regionals of the world series in Cinncinatti, Ohio. This is Basilone's 13th year as the head coach of the Independent Players. The Players were ranked first in the state of Pennsylvania and 2nd Nationally in the summer of 2004.

Coach Basilone has experience on the College and High School levels. In 1980 he was one of the assistant coaches at The College of Wooster. During his time at Wooster they were ranked 7th Nationally NCAA Division III. Basilone coached at North Allegheny for 23 years.   Coach Basilone has been the Head Varsity Baseball Coach at Valley High School for the past two years.

Basilone has experience as a head coach on the high school level as well. His teams and the teams that he has assisted have won SECTION, WPIAL, and PIAA championships. They have also been ranked as high as 11th in the nation. Several of his players have moved on to play Division I, II, and III college baseball. He also had players in the major league draft and play in the minor leagues.

Coach Basilone is an enthusiastic, experienced and well organized coach with exceptional player motivation and development skills. With the experience of extensive instruction and team leadership coach Basilone has become effective at giving players the opportunity to be seen by college and professional scouts.
