Coaching History and Experience

Ian was the Head Basketball Coach of The Varsity Girls and Varsity Boys Basketball teams at Hillsborough High School from 2004 to 2015 as The Boys Head Coach and then from 2016 - 2020 as The Girls Head Coach. 

In the 2019-20 season, the Girls Varsity team was a Central Jersey Group 4 Sectional Finalist and 4 players from the senior class went on to play basketball in college.

Prior to becoming the Head Girls Basketball Coach, Ian was the Head Coach of the Varsity Boys Basketball team at Hillsborough High School from 2004 - 2015. During this time our team won The Central Jersey Group 4 State Sectional Championship in 2014-15. This was the first time in the school's history that the Boys program won a sectional championship.

In 2013-14 the Raiders were the Skyland Conference Delaware Division Champions and the Somerset County Tournament Champions. This was the first time in school history that the Boys program won a county championship.

 Coach Progin has been named 2 time Star Ledger Somerset County Coach of The Year and 2 time Courier News All-Area Coach of The Year. In his 12 year career coaching as The Boys Head Coach, Coach Progin also had 2 teams break the school record for most wins in a season with 22 and 21.

Playing Experience

 Ian Progin played college basketball for the Rutgers Scarlet Knights as a walk-on. His playing experience at the Division 1 level gives him valuable knowledge and insight into the game.
