When is the Season?
The Spring Season for grades runs from March 1st through May 31st.
Who is Eligible?
Open to girls and boys in Grades 1 through 8 who live in Howell, and the surrounding towns that do not have a lacrosse club.
When and where do we practice?
On average the teams will practice 3 – 4 times a week before the teams begin to play games. Practices are held at Memorial Middle School and Middle School North. Once our games begin practice days will be reduced so the commitment will continue to be 3 – 4 days a week for each team.
The Girls teams generally practice on Monday and Wednesday during the week. The Boys teams generally practice on Tuesday and Thursday during the week. Weekday practices do not start before 5:30pm.
Where do we play games?
Our home games are played at Soldier Memorial Field. We are a travel program so we do travel to other travel programs, most of them are in neighboring towns, on occasion we will have games that are further away.
What is the cost?
The costs range from $75.00 - $240.00 (depending on the grade) and these are payable to Howell PAL, if paid before February 15, 2020. If registered after February 15, 2020 there will be a late charge of $25.00. There is a 10% sibling discount for any sibling registered after the initial sibling. The 10% discount is applicable after the oldest sibling is registered.
What is included in the cost?
The registration fees cover the costs of the club which include field maintenance, equipment, and referee fees for games, 2 tournaments, uniforms, and $30 for mandatory US Lacrosse membership.
For the K-2 Boys program the registration fees include a lacrosse stick, soft rubber lacrosse ball, a t-shirt, and US Lacrosse membership.
Who is US Lacrosse and why do I need to register?
US Lacrosse is the governing body of Lacrosse in the country. All US Lacrosse members play under the same rules and it is a requirement of our league, CLL, and of the various tournaments that we enter that all of our members are registered with US Lacrosse. In addition each member of US Lacrosse receive a yearly subscription to Lacrosse Magazine.
Coastal Lacrosse League:
The Coastal Lacrosse League is comprised of teams from throughout the New Jersey counties of Monmouth and Ocean. The goals of the CLL are to promote the sport of lacrosse through participation, sportsmanship, and excellence. The mission of the CLL is to bring together local town recreational programs in the spirit of fair play and equality.
What equipment is required?
US Lacrosse the following equipment (http://www.uslacrosse.org/about-the-sport/equipment.aspx):
Boys – helmet, mouth guard, gloves, elbow pads, chest protector, athletic cup, and cleats
Girls – goggles, mouth guard, gloves, and cleats
For practice both girls and boys will be provided pinnies that are the player’s responsibility to wear for all practices.
For games all players will have uniforms that include a jersey and shorts, to be worn for all games.
