Playing Rules |
|
Game Time: A regulation game will consist of twenty-five minute halves which the clock will remain running with the following exceptions: (clock is turned on when ball is considered back in play) 1) Time-outs 2) Injuries or arguments 3) During the last two minutes of the game and final thirty seconds of the first half, the clock will stop on dead balls such as; out of bounds, made baskets, fouls, and free throws. Also, during the last minute of any necessary overtimes. (These periods of time are known as “jail time”)
Substitutions: Players must check in at the scores table. (If player fails to check into the scores table opposing team shoots one technical foul shot and receives the ball)
Time-outs: Each team will have three timeouts per regulation. If game goes into O.T. each team will start with one timeout, regardless of the amount remaining at the end of regulation. 1) Team with ball can only call a time-out unless the ball is out of play then either team can call the timeout. 2) If a timeouts called by a team with none remaining, technical foul leads to one foul shot and possession for opposing team. 3) Time-outs are all one minute.
Grace Periods: 1) Pre-game warm up will be ten minutes for ALL games. 2) Halftime and before any overtimes (if necessary) being two minutes.
Inbounding: Ball must be inbounded at all times! (If ball is checked it automatically becomes a live ball) 1) If the player inbounding the ball doesn’t have both feet out of bounds ball is turned over to opposing team. 2) There is no rule on how long teams must wait to inbound the ball. 3) The appropriate spot to pass in will depend on where the ball went out of play or where the turn over occurred. Ball is only advanced to half court during “jail time”.
Fouls: DON’T EXPECT ANYONE TO CALL ANY FOULS FOR YOU!!! 1) A foul called at any time besides “jail time” results in possession given to the team who called the foul. 2) If a foul is called by player with the ball in “jail time” that player will receive foul shots. (One and one for non-shooting fouls, two shots for two point shots, and three for three point shots) 3) If a player calls “and one” that is considered a foul call. If basket is made play continues if missed player regains possession or if during “jail time” player receives appropriate foul shots. 4) Off ball fouls never result in foul shots just possible change in possession. 5) After three fouls in any “jail time” period every foul automatically becomes two shots.
Possession: Whichever team loses the jump ball will start the second half with possession and also start with the possession arrow.
Overtime/Ties: In case of a tie at the end of regulation, five minute overtime periods will be played until there is a winner.
Referees: There will be one player that is not actively playing in the game along with three people at the scores table, to assume the role of “referee”. They are there to review any disputed foul calls in the last two minutes of regulation and last minute of overtimes NOT TO INITIALLY MAKE THE CALL. If it looks like refs are CLEARLY out to screw a team, commissioner will step in.*Any call that is made and not disputed will stand as is with no say from the referees.

Jailhouse Player Etiquette |
|
All Jailhouse participants are expected to clean up after themselves and be respectful of all the facilities and equipment. At least one to two players from each team are responsible to contribute in some way whether it IS scoRE/stat keeper or “referee”. These individuals need to pay full atTention to insure best quality results and perform these duties as they would hope someone would do for them. REFS ARE BEING ASKED TO JUDGE GAMEs fairly and SCORE AND STAT KEEPERS ARE BEING ASKED TO KEEP ACCURATE AND CORRECT STATS.
WE’RE ALL FRIENDS HERE so IF at any time it LOOKS LIKE PEOPLE ARE JUST TRYING TO MANipulate stats, scores, and calls OVER PLAYING basketBALL WITH FRIENDS, THERE WILL BE PENALTIES FOR THOSE individuals and possible suspension.
lastly We are a player first league so if at any time players have a problem, QUESTION, or recommendation please feel free to bring it to the commisioner.
*commissioner (Anthony liquori) has final say in all rules and all rules are subject to his ruling. |
