  • GAME 1 -  BALLERS win 60-59 against the New Hampshire Exeter Hawks.
    .

  • GAME 2 -  BALLERS win 55-43 against Tennessee's Moore County Raiderettes

  • .
  • GAME 5 -  BALLERS win 63-49 against SC Stars advance to FINAL FOUR!!!  Best of luck to our in-state "sista" team, SC STARS, the rest of the tourney.  Great job representing South Carolina AAU Girls Basketball!
  • GAME 6 -  BALLERS win 57-55 against Delaware Pal Wildcats and advance to the CHAMPIONSHIP GAME Friday @ 2:30pm.
  • The BALLERS took the jump and immediately built the lead to 28-21 by halftime.   A strong 2nd half start by the Delaware team combined with sluggish play by our BALLERS resulted in the lead dwindling down to two before the Ballers even scored again.   Although the Ballers were able to either maintain a slim lead or at times were tied by the Wildcats, it was obvious the rest of the game would be tight as the momentum was clearly now with Delaware.    Our BALLERS eventually regained composure, went to the full-court man-to-man pressure, and with a couple defensive stops; several badly needed inside baskets by TC, a three-point bucket by ChaRon, 2 free throws and a final inside basket by Aleighsa, were able to withstand the girls from the mid-Atlantic and move into the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME.   The BALLERS will have to regain the higher level of performance they displayed earlier this week in order to bring the Championship back to the Lowcountry.
  • Come on down to Mickey's house and join the Buckners, Rivers, Hawkins, and others support Coach Magwood, Coach Lincoln, Asst. Director (Ms. Pam) Greene and YOUR 15U Ballers in this NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP journey.

  • The Hoyas take their first loss on a tip shot at the buzzer.  Dantez had 13 pts., 2 steals and 1 assist in the heartbreaking loss.  KJ  chipped in 2 pts, grabbed 6 rebounds and a steal as well.   The HOYAS finish at 2-1 second in their pool and therefore are able to move into the CHAMPIONSHIP Bracket.
  • GAME 4 -  Hoyas win 60-32 over Brevard (FL) Lakers
  • Dantez had 11 pts., 2 assists, 2 rebounds, 1 steal; KJ contributed 5 pts. 4 rebounds, & 2 steals, and Ty deftly stole the rock on 3 occassions.  Hoyas continue in the CHAMPIONSHIP Bracket!!!
  • GAME 5 -  Hoyas lose 54-45 to New Orleans Elite.
  • Against last year's 12U #6 team the New Orleans Elite, the Hoyas fought hard but take the loss.   Unfortunately, this knocks them out of the National Championship race.  KJ had 3 rebounds and 2 steals. Dantez had 2 pts., 2 rebounds and 1 assist.
  • GAME 6 -  Hoyas win over Indiana Blaze 56-45.
  • Dantez poured in 9 pts, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 1 block; KJ chipped in 2 pts. 4 rebounds, 5 steals 7 pts, 3 rebounds.
  • GAME 7 -  Hoyas lose 63-51 to Rytes Warriors  Black
  • Unfortunately the Hoyas lost to the team out of Houston, TX.   This knocks them out of the rest of the tournament.   They finished 4-3 overall during the tournament.  Dantez poured in 14 pts., 7 rebounds, 4 assists, KJ had 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal while Ty got into the final game as well.
  • Thank you to the Hoyas for allowing our players an opportunity to gain some AAU Nationals experience.

CONGRATULATIONS TO DANTEZ, KJ, AND TY AGAIN AND THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR EFFORTS TO KEEP YOUR GAME UP DURING JUNE!!!

Baller FOOD Drive WINNERS

A huge thank you to all of the ballers who gave to the Food Drive on April 4 and for the spirit of friendly competition amongst our teams. The 15U girl's team was winning our contest throughout the day but right before the clock sounded, terminating the drive, the 16U girl's took home the prize with a rally of 24 cans, which brought their total up to 98 cans of vegetables.
After conferring with two very competitive 15U team coaches, the win was indeed confirmed to be legitimate by the judges!!

Congratulations to the 16U girl's basketball team for their first, of hopefully many, wins this Baller season.
They will receive SUBWAY GIFT CARDS.

The biggest winners of course are the individuals in the community who will benefit
from the Ballers' unselfish giving in our Food Drive.   Our contributions resulted in a total weight of ~357 lbs.!!!
Listed below are each team's totals:

Girls

13U Purple - 46 canned beans

13U White - 11 bags of dried beans

15U Purple - 91 cans of canned fruit

16U Purple - 98 cans of vegetables

Boys

12U Purple - 17 bags of rice

13U Purple - 9 cans of peanut butter

15U Purple - 51 bags of raimen noodles

In addition, there were other miscellaneous items not listed specifically under a team's name that were also donated
to the Food Bank.

Thanks again for the effort.

Special Thanks to

for their assistance during the Food Drive.

BALLERS 15U WIN STATE!!!

(Pictured 15u ballers)

CONGRATULATIONS
to the

Lowcountry Ballers
15U GIRLS, JR GIRLS and BOYS 13U teams

as all three teams
turned in OUTSTANDING performances at the

SC District STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS
in Columbia and Myrtle Beach.

The Ballers competed fiercely at the State AAU tournament against teams from all over South Carolina.  Collectively, the BALLERS WON 12 games and only lost 2 the entire weekend!!! Each team went UNDEFEATED in their respective pools and all three teams advanced to Sunday's Championship Playoff bracket.    (Pictures will be posted upon receipt!!!)

The 13U BOYS debuted the new Lowcountry Ballers uniforms in Myrtle Beach at the Div. I State Championships.  Playing in their first AAU tournament this season they very quickly made it clear that the Ballers would be a team to watch out for in the STATE.  Their first game was against a proven Carolina Ravens program.   After a somewhat sluggish start the Ballers held a 1pt halftime lead but went up by as many as 16 in the 3rd before a late surge by the Ravens cut the lead down to 7 at the end of the quarter.   During the 4th Qtr. the Ballers controlled the temp and with speed, deft passing, and hot outside shooting blew the game open and earned a 63-46 victory.
Coaches Bennamon and Wood had the Ballers on point all weekend and although undersized against each team they faced, they were able to earn double digit margin of victories by utilizing their quickness, tenacious defense, and tremendous outside shooting ability!   The Ballers advanced to the Championship Sunday where they would meet the Columbia Slammers, a team that was similar in composition.    This proved to be a great battle between 2 quick, defensive-minded and solid outside shooting teams.   Although the Ballers held a small lead most of the game an ill-timed turnover and a couple of missed rebounds allowed the Slammers to take the STATE championship by 3 points, 57-54.
OUR 13U Ballers played fantastic, beating the Carolina Ravens, Carolina Raptors, Rock Hill Elite, and the SC Hornets en route to a 4-1 finish, and earned 2nd Place in the AAU STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS playing in just their first tournament of the year!   Although Coaches and the team were disappointed they let the Championship slip away, by winning 2nd in the State they earned an automatic bid to the Div. I NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS  in Memphis, TN in June 28 - July 5.
CONGRATS to Coach Bennamon, Coach Wood and the 13U BOYS on  a great start to this AAU season.
We're GLAD you are BALLERS!!!

The 15U GIRLS continued where they left off after last years 14U State runner-up finish.   This year's Ballers were settling for nothing less than the AAU STATE Championship!  After a very tough game and narrow win over the talented SC Stars 53-47 on Friday night, the BALLERS turned it on the rest of the weekend.    Coach Magwood displayed her team's depth and talent as they used solid defense, great inside play combined with 3 pt shooting to wear down their opponents.   It was obvious that Coach Magwood and these 15U BALLERS were thinking nothing short of a CHAMPIONSHIP would be acceptable.   After an unfortunate forfeit made for a long Saturday, as the girls did not have to play again until Saturday night.   Nevertheless, once back in action they were ready to take on the Lady Metros from N. Augusta who had experienced a tumultuous day themselves.    The Metros hung tough thru the first half and it was apparent they were not going to just allow the Ballers to skate into the Championship game without a battle.   However, our 15U BALLERS were ready for the challenge, took control during the second half and lead the rest of the game eventually finishing with a 10pt victory 66-56.    Sunday morning brought on the Championship game vs a familiar opponent from last years semi-finals match up, the Carolina Xtreme from Greenville.    The Ballers sputtered a bit here and there in the first half but in the second half were determined to finish off the upstate Xtreme and bring the 1st place trophy back to the LOWCOUNTRY!!!   Great team effort resulted in the 57-36 victory and the STATE CHAMPIONSHIP!   Along with the STATE Championship the BALLERS finished the tourney 4-0 and also earned an automatic bid to the Div. II NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS in Orlando, FL July 5-10.   This is the third straight year these Ballers have qualified for the National Championships.    Something tells me that third time is the charm and with continued work and improvement this team can bring home the first AAU NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP back to the LOWCOUNTRY.   Great work girls and
We're GLAD you are BALLERS!!!

The
Jrs Ballers started out on a tear and sent an early message that this team was going to be a factor in who would win the STATE Championship in the 16U age division.   Coach Solomon and Coach Champagne had a reduced roster ready to play and started out with Friday night thrashing of the Lexington Lady Cats 47-21.  Their next opponent Tri-Cities Ballers realized quickly that they had the wrong name on front of their jerseys as the Lowcountry BALLERS put it on them for a 54-28 victory.    Next up was one of our own local competitors, newcomer Carolina Cavaliers from North Charleston.    This game carried city-wide bragging rights as a lot of these girls knew each other and our BALLERS had already defeated the Charleston Stampede in ATL the week before.   Coach Solomon and Coach Champagne were not playing around and our LOWCOUNTRY Ballers stepped out hard and fast and surged to a 40-14 halftime lead before easing up and collecting the 73-41 victory.   The win put the Ballers into the final four and were prepped to play for the championship.    Unfortunately, Sunday morning the Jrs Ballers were slow and heavy legged and as a result were in a battle the entire game with the Carolina Cyclones.      Although, the game went back and forth our Ballers never could pull away and in the last couple of minutes let the chance to play for the championships slip away, eventually dropping this game 63-57.   Tremendously disappointed the Ballers had to quickly pick themselves up and prepare for a rematch with the Carolina Cavaliers for 3rd place.    Our Ballers showed great composure and resiliency and were determined not to let a good tournament run end with a loss to a local team.    The Ballers dished out the same punishment as the previous day on the Cavaliers and took the 3rd place spot in the STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS with a 75-52 win.     These Ballers finished the tournament with a 4-1 record even with 3-4 players missing over the weekend.   Thanks for all your hard work and
We're GLAD you are BALLERS!!!

Congratulations again to all the teams for their success during the State tourney and displaying why the Lowcountry Ballers are becoming a significant force in AAU Basketball!

Thank you to the 15U parents and relatives (Buckner, Pajaro, Singleton, Hawkins, Williamson, Mack, Singleton, Bryant, Ravenell, Vaughan, Haney, Walker).  I believe every player had at least one of their family members present cheering them on, which I believe is a direct correlation to the success of the weekend!

Thanks to the Jrs parents and relatives as well (Barnett, Rivers, Blunt, Willoughby, Staley, Molony) for supporting the Ballers during a terrific weekend.

Thank you to the 13U Boys parents and relatives (McField, Hammond, Radenbaugh, McRae, Bennamon, Wood) who traveled to Myrtle Beach to support the Ballers with their presence, cheering and spirit enabling a fantastic run at the championship in their first tourney appearance.

Thanks to the Lowcountry Ballers coaches and staff (especially Ms. Pam and Coach Davis ) for managing another successfully competitive and productive weekend!!!
Special Thanks to Mr McField, Mrs. Buckner and Mr. Willoughby for keeping the books straight ALL weekend for the Ballers!!!
We were Blessed with no injuries and great sportsmanship!

BALLERS 13U GIRLS WIN STATE!!!

CONGRATULATIONS
to the

Lowcountry Ballers
13U GIRLS PURPLE, 13U GIRLS WHITE,
12U BOYS, and 15U BOYS teams

as all four teams
turned in OUTSTANDING efforts at the

SC District STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS
in Columbia
and at the
PHOENIX SOUTH INVITATIONAL
in Charlotte, NC

SPECIAL CONGRATULATIONS
to COACH GULLEY
& the
13U GIRLS PURPLE TEAM
for winning
the
13U AAU STATE CHAMPIONSHIP!!!

The Ballers competed tenaciously at the GIRLS State AAU tournament against teams from all over South Carolina.  Although, the overall results were mixed with the 13U GIRLS PURPLE winning 5 games while the 13U GIRLS WHITE dropped each of their games the BALLERS demonstrated their talent and potential across this age group.
On the Boys side of the BALLER family,  both the 12U and 15U Ballers were introduced to the highly competitive level of play that we strive to provide .   We believe that true "winning" occurs if you are willing to honestly assess your skills against the best competition and then work hard to improve your weaknesses and demonstrate your strengths.
(More Pictures will be posted upon receipt!!!)

The 13U GIRLS WHITE arrived in Columbia and were quickly reminded that at the STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS you have to always be prepared as all the teams want to win and get that bid to Nationals.    Our Ballers started out slow and never got in sync and subsequently fell to the Greenwood Carolina Sparks.    Saturday's game against the SC Stars started similarly.   However, this time the Ballers regroup at halftime and played a solid second half.   Unfortunately, the Baller comeback fell short and the SC Stars hung on for a 30-23 victory.   The two losses resulted in our Ballers having to play again Sat night against a higher seeded team, the SC Flames.    The Flames were focused as they had just lost earlier to our Baller Purple team and wasted no time dispatching our BALLER White team.    This loss eliminated our Ballers from the tournament and ended our hopes of an all BALLER Final.    Coach Britt-Keitt, Coach Pringle and our BALLER White team finished 0-3 and will have to work harder and commit to playing better as a team if they hope to bring home wins from the State tournament.   Keep working to improve and remember
We're GLAD you are BALLERS!!!

The 13U GIRLS PURPLE came to Columbia ready to play.    Although they were playing the last game of the night, they came out hard and jumped all over the PT Cruisers.   Constant rotation of fresh players combined with aggressive defense and up tempo offense resulted in a resounding 54-21 victory.    Saturday our BALLERS continued their pattern of early pressure and up tempo offense with fresh bodies allowed the Ballers to enjoy a 56-20 win.   Later that afternoon, proved to be the pivotal game of the weekend for this age group.   Our Ballers were matched up against the SC Flames and with both teams unbeaten in the tourney the winner would get the #1 seed, earn a bye and therefore would advance to the final four.   This was a close game but our BALLERS were able to withstand the Flames and earned the 56-47 victory.    After getting a good night's rest from Saturday's games the BALLERS started preparing for championship Sunday.   The final four matched our Ballers against a previous opponent we had already beaten the PT Cruisers.   Nevertheless, our BALLERS did not take this team for granted and earned their 4th victory of the tournament with the 54-28 win and advanced to the CHAMPIONSHIP game.   The Championship game was against the same SC Lady Flames team we had narrowly defeated the day before.   However, our BALLERS were out to make a statement and wanted to bring the championship trophy to the Lowcountry.    Stifling defensive pressure and overall team speed allowed the Ballers to build a lead that they would not relinquish and in front of lots of LOWCOUNTRY fans won the SC DISTRICT STATE CHAMPIONSHIP 59-39!!!
CONGRATULATIONS to Coach Gulley and the entire 13U GIRLS PURPLE team for going 5-0 thru the tournament, winning the championship and earning the automatic bid to compete in the AAU NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS in Ohio or in COCOA BEACH FL!!!
Thank you to all the 13U PURPLE & WHITE Families that traveled to Columbia to support both teams and to help our BALLERS bring home the STATE CHAMPIONSHIP!!!
We're GLAD you are BALLERS!!!

The 12U BOYS participated in their first tournament of the season in Charlotte.  Our little BALLER Boys were matched against a tough Phoenix South team ready to play early in morning.   BALLER phenom "JC" Simuel showed why he is one of the best 12U players in the region as he was scoring at will, many times going coast to coast eluding various defenders.  The opposing team even tried to invoke a full-court box-and-one to slow him.    Eric McCray gave the Ballers their rebounding presence until foul trouble slowed both he and Simuel in the second half.    The Phoenix South were able to expose our BALLERS' inexperience and lack of height and eventually enjoyed the 54-35 victory.   Later that am, the Ballers faced a talented SC 76er team that showed no mercy on our fellas and we took a 70-12 beat down.   The evening proved to be more of the same as another host team of the Phoenix South stuck a 40-10 loss on our BALLERS.    Coach Witherspoon and Coach Rhett kept our BALLERS motivated and in their only game on Sunday were able to play hard and get a victory 27-22 over another Phoenix South team.  Our little BALLERS were excited to get the "W".    The team will need to continue to work to improve on defense and utilize their speed as since we are so young on this team will no doubt almost always be undersized against our opponents.   We are proud of the hustle and effort that our youngest BALLERS displayed.
We're GLAD you are BALLERS!!!

The 15U BOYS kicked off their AAU season in Charlotte as well.   Our BALLER started slowly and got behind 13-1 with just 8 minutes into the game.   However, our BALLERS started getting it together and behind a couple of 3s by Raemond Robinson were only down 24-19 with just over 3 minutes left in the half.   Two more 3s by Bakari Blunt gets the BALLERS to within two with the first half ending score 27-25.   After a sluggish second half start the BALLERS find themselves down 10 with eight minutes left.    At that point Coach Carter and Coach Britton start guiding the BALLERS back.    As that BALLER pride and heart emerged our BALLERS were with 2 with just under three minutes remaining.   The game get tied at 49 with just 58 seconds left.  Our Ballers go down by with 36 seconds left but Robinson hits a three and we go up two.   The lead was short lived as the Phoenix South tie the score at 52 with only 6 seconds left.   De'Vante Cunningham gets a chance for the game winner but as the ball falls off the rim we head into Overtime!    During OT "DC" hits a trey followed by Robinson knocking down another but the Phoenix South respond and tie the game at 58 with 28 second left.   DC gets loose and knocks down a deuce with just 6 seconds remaining.   Our BALLERs prevent the Phoenix from getting a potential winning bucket and we take the victory by a 60-58 score!!!   What a way to start the AAU season!
Our 15U Ballers started the second game of the day slowly and this Phoenix South team did not look back as they rolled over our BALLERS 60-37.   Our Ballers realized that if you keep starting slowly you may dig a hole that is to deep to escape.   The next game matched our Ballers against another team from the host club Phoenix South.    Fortunately, both teams start slowly but eventually our BALLERS take some control and are up 35-33 at the half.    For the first time all weekend the BALLERS start the half strong and using all the players go up in the second half 45-36.   Robinson, Troy Tucker and another outstanding game from "DC" Cunningham enable the BALLERS to build a double digit lead and cruise on to the 74-64 victory.    The next game is against the taller QCAA Force who with all starters 6'3 and above have been rolling over their opponents this weekend.   This turns out to be a tougher game then the Force anticipated as our BALLERS were looking for the upset and advance to the Championship game.   The game was fast paced, lots of hustling, and physical play, which are BALLERS did not back down from and we finished the half only down by 2.  The game stayed close until the last minute and half.   The Force went on a mini-run that we could not match and eventually our BALLERS took the 76-63 loss and were eliminated from the tourney one game from the championship.    While all the BALLERS contributed during the tournament, DeVante, Raemond, Troy and Bakari performed consistently and kept the BALLERS rolling.   Good effort for your first tourney and
We're GLAD you are BALLERS!!!

Congratulations again to all the teams for their success during the State tourney as well as Charlotte and displaying why the Lowcountry Ballers are becoming a significant force in AAU Basketball!

Thank you to the 13U parents and relatives (names forthcoming).  We had a strong contingency of BALLER Backers in Columbia  cheering the GIRLS on, which I believe is a direct correlation to winning the CHAMPIONSHIP!!!

Thanks to the 12U and 15U parents and relatives (McKelvey, Robinson, Whatley, Murray -Phillips, Shanari and Shona Mitchell, Erby, Chris & Monet Teal,  Cunningham, Tucker, Rouse, Uncle & Aunt Rouse, Miya Brown, Joseph Singleton, McFadden & Grandmother, Simuel, Addison, Elmore, Betty Hooks & daughter, Coach Britton Fam) who traveled to Charlotte to support the our Ballers with their presence, cheering and spirit enabling an enjoyable experience in their first tourney appearance.

Thanks to the Lowcountry Ballers coaches and staff (especially Ms. Pam, Coach Davis, and Coach Hooks) for managing another successfully competitive and productive weekend!!!   Thanks to Ms Pam for the CHL 15U Game summaries.
