Things to Do Your Freshman Year in High School for College
Grades are very important. This year sets the tone for your GPA.
Participate in Freshmen Orientation
Set an Academic plan and goals for this year.
Academics should be your #1 priority and focus.
Plan your course schedule carefully with your counselor and your parents to ensure that you are taking the correct classes.
Community service opportunities (volunteer work)
Set individual athletic goals for the summer and year
Set academic plan for Sophomore year (begin)
Review your progress at various point in the year with counselor and parents.
Attend residental camps of one of the colleges/university of your choice.

Send your cover letter and resume to the identified coaches
Be prepared to have an intelligent conversation with the coach regarding his program

Get tax records to prepare financial aid forms.
Obtain and file financial Aid Forms ASAP after January 1.
Make sure all applications have been sent.
Continue to monitor your child's grades, test scores and class rank to make sure they are in sync with to admission to their college of choice.
