ANSWERS TO FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Where are the games played?
- All Games are played at Harris Park fields located at 70 S. Harris Rd. Softball games may be played in Milan, Dexter, Belleville, and at Lincoln Little League
- Minor and Major Baseball games that are against Ypsilanti American Little League may be played at Candy Cane or Recreation Park fields
When are games played?
- All Tball games are played on Saturdays – usually in the morning
- All Coach Pitch games are played mostly on Saturdays, however there may be times when evening games may be played during the week.
- All Minor division Baseball games are played on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
- All Major Division Baseball games are played on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.
- Evening games begin at 6pm. (Minor/Major Division games have a 2 hour time limit, Coach Pitch has a 90 minute time limit)
- There may be night games for the Minor and Major Divisions played under the lights and may last until after 9:30pm (Little League rules state that no new inning may begin after 10:00pm for Minor and Major Divisions)
When are practices held?
- Each coach of each team will schedule their own practices, most teams will meet for practice at least once during the week.
What equipment will my child need?
- All Male players in all Divisions MUST wear athletic supporters
- Each player will need a glove
- Players must wear cleats – NO METAL (players in the TBall Division are recommended to wear cleats but it is not mandatory)
- Baseball Pants – please wait to purchase this item until your child’s team has been established as some Coaches may request a certain color/style
- Baseball Socks - please wait to purchase this item until your child’s team has been established as some Coaches may request a certain color/style
- ALL PLAYERS WILL BE PROVIDED WITH A UNIFORM SHIRT AND CAP
- Players may bring their own bat, however there usually are bats that the team can share.
Will I be required to volunteer for anything?
- All parents are requested and highly encouraged to volunteer for at least one shift, if not more than one shift, in the concession stand.
- Please remember, YNLL is run 100% on volunteers – the success of our League depends completely on our volunteers.
How do I know what my child’s “League Age” is?
- Official Little League Rules state the following:
Baseball: “League Age” is that age attained prior to May 1 in any given season. EXAMPLE: a child whose 12th birthday is on April 30 or earlier has a League Age of 12; a child whose 12th birthday is on May 1 or later has a League Age of 11.
Softball: “League Age” for a Little League Softball participant in any division is that age attained prior to January 1 in any given season. EXAMPLE: a child whose 12th birthday is on the previous December 31 or earlier has a League Age of 12; a child whose 12th birthday is on January 1 or later has a league age of 11.
How long is the season?
- The season begins late April and runs thru late June.
Are refunds returned in any case?
The only instance that there is a refund is that if a child is not placed on a team for any reason. This is also stated on the Registration Form.
