About The Alumni Association:

The Gateway Hockey Alumni Association consists of all former Gateway Hockey players who are interested in supporting the club in any manner be it financial, coaching, mentoring, volunteering, or any other manner.  Who better to help keep this organization going strong than those who put their sweat and effort as players to get it to where it is.

The Wizard Behind the Curtain:

Dr. Steve Biancaniello has been the driving force behind the Gateway Hockey Alumni Association for many years and is the main architect, strategist, and organizer behind all the Alumni activites below.  Anyone interested in becoming involved with the Gateway Hockey Alumni Association please contact Steve at slbiancaniello1@gmail.com.

Annual Alumni Association Golf Outing Fundraiser:

Each year the Alumni Association holds a golf outing for the purposes of assembling the Alumni and current players for networking, fun, and to raise money for the club.  This year's event will be held at Cloverleaf Golf Club on 8/25/23.  Click the link below to access a registration form.

Annual Black/White Alumni Game & Alumni Skills Competition:

Each year on December 25th the Alumni Association holds an ice hockey game and skills competition for the purposes of assembling the Alumni and current players for networking, fun, and to raise money for the club.

The Gateway Hockey Alumni Honor Roll:

The Gateway Hockey Alumni Honor Roll is NOT a Hall of Fame. It is NOT an All-Star award. In 2007-08 the Alumni organization established The Honor Roll to acknowledge Gateway Hockey Alumni who through their dedication and support of Gateway Hockey both on and off the ice over time, contributed to the great legacy that is Gateway Hockey.

The Induction Process is a four- month process that extends from the first week in April to the middle of October each year. To be eligible, an Alumnus must be nominated. To be eligible for nomination, the Alumnus must have graduated no less than eight (8) years prior to the nomination year. So, a Gateway Hockey Alumnus graduating in 2021 will be eligible for nomination in 2029.

The Nomination Process begins on April 1st of each year through the email chain, Facebook and the Alumni Websites. The Nomination Ballot is made public the first week of June each year on the Gateway Hockey website and the Gateway Alumni websites and published on Facebook and in the local newspaper. We also have the email addresses of our Alumni and the Ballot is emailed directly to them. All Gateway Hockey Alumni and their family and friends are welcome to vote. The Nomination Ballot is active from the first week in June to August 15th each year.

The five (5) Alumni receiving the most Nomination votes are then placed on the Election Ballot. That Ballot is again made public on the websites, in the local paper and sent out by email and on Survey Monkey. That Ballot is active until October 15th each year. The three (3) Alumni receiving the most election votes become the Induction class for that year.

An Induction ceremony is held each year during the Gateway Hockey Alumni Winter Event held every December 26th. It is part of a day that includes the Ceremony and the Annual Black/White Alumni Game. Each year we average around 40 Alumni representing multiple decades of Gateway Hockey Teams playing in the game. The winning team gets their names engraved on the Golden Gator Alumni Trophy.
