Coach Lutz grew up in Ridgefield Park, NJ and was a proud member of many successful RP Little League, Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle and American Legion All-Star teams....
He played his High School career at Paramus Catholic High School(85-89)back when PC was the dominant parochial school of the day.. He earned All-League, All-County, and New Jersey All-State honors as a shortstop and was team MVP his senior year on a 26-5 team which was voted the Bergen County "Team of the Year".. He still holds the season and career homerun records at the school..
Coach Lutz continued his career at Florida Atlantic University and Elizabethtown College.. Coach Lutz shifted to the catching position in college and was named All-Conference, All-Region, and All-American in his collegiate career after only 1 season as a catcher..
In 1993 the Toronto Blue Jays selected Coach Lutz in the Major League Baseball Draft..
After his stint with the Blue Jays, coach Lutz played 11 seasons(ending after 2008) for the Ridgefield Park Orioles/Hackensack Troasts as the starting catcher for the most dominant amateur baseball team in the Tri-State area and one of the top 5-10 in the nation... The team compiled a 336-71 record in his tenure and competed in 4 AABC/NABF National World Series in that time...
Coach Lutz has also given hitting and catching lessons for Pro-Player Academy in Hawthorne
He owns and directs the "Boys of Summer baseball camp" for the past 20 years, educating future stars every summer....
