Doug Pettit

The game of baseball has always captured my attention. As a kid I could play for hours and nothing has changed. I absolutely love to be out on the field playing the game of baseball. Especially when I can be with my two sons.

I was lucky enough to play at The University of Texas under one of the winningest coaches in college history, Cliff Gustafson. After college I spent the next 4 years in the Florida Marlin's Organization. During my career I played in two NCAA College World Series and in a single A All-Star game.

I understand that there is a big difference in being able to play the game and being able to teach it. I am currently a Physical Education/Health teacher in RRISD and have 19 years of experience at the Elementary level.

My goal is to teach young players the importance of the fundamentals and how to respect the game. Baseball should be enjoyed. It is also one of the most difficult games to play which often leads to discouraged young stars. By teaching the fundamentals of the game the chance for success increases greatly.
