Duffy Homers for Vikes in Loss to Magruder

Dan Duffy went 1-3 with a home run, and Michael Yang went 2-3 with a triple, but 7 team errors killed the Vikes as they fell to 0-1 on the season.

Vikings bats come together to beat Quince Orchard 15-6

Josh Biel, Mike Yang, Dan Duffy, and Andrew Castagnetti all had multiple hits to lead the Vikings in an offensive performance past Quince Orchard 15-6. Noah Klotz also came up big with a bases loaded double scoring all three runners.

Mike West got his first win of the season pitching four innings while allowing 3 runs on four hits.

Yang leads Vikings past Paint Branch 1-0 in pitchers battle

The Vikings struggled all day to hit the ball, totaling 3 hits over the course of 7 innings. The Paint Branch pitcher averaged 1.5 strike outs per inning and pitched a complete game. The Vikings found a way to score a run in the third inning after Dylan Hayes reached on base by walk, Mike Yang and Dan Duffy by error, and then Andrew Castagnetti getting the RBI walk. This was the lone run of the entire game.

Mike Yang pitched an amazing 1 hit shutout, while only walking one batter. Yang struck out three batters and relied heavily on the defense of Andrew Castagnetti and Ben Page to help him get several key outs.

Whitman loses to Wootton in rainy night game 7-2

The JV Whitman boys just couldn't find a way to get any hits in a 7-2 loss to Wootton on Tuesday night. The vikings got a total of 3 hits the entire game. Josh Biel was the only offensive player to get multiple hits during the game. The vikings did improve their at bats by lowering their amount of strkeouts by 6 from the previous game.

Steinberg pitches complete game shutout as bats come alive

Gabe Steinberg pitches an amazing 7 inning shutout while only allowing 3 hits and striking out 6 Richard Montgomery hitters. Steinberg also helped himself out by singling in his only at bat.

Duffy, Lowet, and Yang each supplied most of the Vikings offense getting 2 hits each. Duffy totaled 4 RBI's on the day to add to his two hits.

Whitman beats cross town rival Walter Johnson 8-1 at Povich Field.

Mike Yang pitched put up another strong performance against cross town rivals Walter Johnson. Yang pitched 6 innings while giving up 0 earned runs and only two hits. Yang helped himself out by going 3 for 4 at the plate while scoring 2 runs. West came in to finish the 7th inning and struck out three batters.

Other strong offensive performances were turned in by Dan Lowet, Andrew Castagnetti, and Andrew Pomerenk. Both Pomerenk and Castagnetti hit triples and brought in a total of four base runners on the day. Dan Lowet had two hits and stolen bases on the day, and scored one run.

Whitman beats only team to hand them loss in 09' season 5-1.

Gabe Steinberg continued our streak of amazing starts by pitching 6 innings while giving up 0 earned runs. He added 2 K's and 0 walks in his second win of the season. Mike West came in and faced three batters in the 7th inning to pick up Whitman's first save of the year.

Dan Lowet was the only viking to record two hits for the night, including a double, stolen base, and a run. Dylan Hayes moved runners over to second and third on a much needed sac bunt. This set up Mike Yang for a 2 RBI single up the middle to give the vikings a more secure lead.

Whitman defeated Gaithersburg by the same score they lost to in the previous year.

Vikings lose sophomore leadership, but rally on to beat crosstown rival bcc 14-4

The Vikings were forced to play without sophomore leaders Ben Page and Josh Biel on Saturday mornings game verse BCC. The two regular starters were brought up to assist the varsity in their game due to the schools annual band trip.

Freshman Nick Bode did an amazing job behind the plate stopping almost everything that came to him. Mike Yang pitched his third complete game of the year giving up only 3 earned runs in the second inning. This gave Yang a team leading 3 wins on the season.

Dan Duffy was able to notch his second home run of the year, blasting one over the 345ft sign in center field. Andrew Castagnetti supplied 4 RBI's on the day, while hitting a bases loaded double. Mike Yang helped himself out on the offensive side by getting two hits on the day.

Whitman struggles to score runs as undefeated Northwest wins 7-0

Northwest showed why they were undefeated going into their match-up with the Vikings. They got 9 hits and drew 4 walks on the day while scoring 7 runs. Their defense didn't commit any errors and their pitcher threw a complete game, only walking one Whitman batter while giving up just 4 hits.

Andrew Castagnetti was the only Whitman hitter to have multiple hits on the day, getting half of the Vikings hits. Whitman showed an improvement on the defensive end, committing only one error on the day.

The Vikings look to rebound from this game against their cross town rival BCC on Saturday morning.

Duffy blasts homerun in second straight game as Vikings beat Churchill 8-2

Gabe Steinberg pitched a very solid 6 innings against Churchill giving up only two earned runs and striking out 7 to earn his third win of the season. Noah Klotz and Andrew Castagnetti made spectacular plays in the field to help support Gabe's pitching performance. Connor Bissel finished the 7th inning throwing only 6 pitches to retire three straight batters.

Dan Duffy blasted a three run homer over the fence for his team leading third homerun of the season. Mike Yang also had a key hit with runners in scoring position that brought in two viking base runners.

Vikings defense shuts out Blair Blazers 8-0

The vikings pitchers did their job on Tuesday night by allowing Blair to put the ball in our defenses hands. Yang and Steinberg gave up 3 hits total in 7 innings of pitching while striking out only two batters and allowing no runs. Ben Page played an amazing third base by stopping 3 balls that would normally be hits against most JV teams.

Yang helped himself earn his win verses Blair by going three for three with a double on the day and raising his average to a team high .500. Alex Pomerenk also drove a hard line drive down the third baseline to get a double himself.

The Vikings were able to get their third straight season of double digit victories.

Whitman scores season high 24 runs in Seneca Valley victory

The vikings bat showed up to score some runs on this hot Saturday morning. Josh Biel, Andrew Castagnetti, Mike West, and Mike Yang all had a multiple hit game on the day. The team was able to limit their strikeouts to 3 and had a reach base on walks 11 times.

Mike West pitched a solid 3 innings striking out for screaming eagles. Connor Bissel closed out the last 2 innings. The Vikings won 24-4!
